Strip mall America, strip mall family businesses, and quintessential Long Island pizza and pasta restaurant. This is Spuntino a few years ago. I left a credit card there. Going back for it, they said they could well have burned it in the brick wood oven. 😬
Some of the posts - inviting follows and comments - are open invitations to inauthentic accounts. While Bluesky reportedly welcomed them, their analysts are best positioned to answer what the results have been with respect to inauthentic account activity and ensuing mayhem that they create.
2/2 Much is trolling, powered by an understanding of social media design and human behavior, to fuel outrage and deflect energy from efforts to reign in administration lawlessness. "Playful and irreverant" is the cover that supporters hold to even when they are well aware he is divisive.
Disagree with this observation and a missing conclusion: "Although the communication style of the White House is playful and irreverent, it has a serious goal: the diffusion of ideological messages whose intent is to create a sense of strength and righteousness among its supporters." 1/2
Here, it was loud but peaceful by usual standards. Here's a wrinkle: I witnessed isolated non-physical violence as expletives and gestures towards taunting counter-protesters cruising past on the roads. That is escalatory and potentially lead to physical violence.
Can't really speak to GM with authority. My view is that intentional FUD being sown here by petro-friendly interests re; EVs leading to market uncertainty. Without EV certainty like in China and a lesser extent in Europe, US falls behind and we'll be left with dirty tech not globally competitive.
I was in South Huntington. Several things were notable, but especially the energized seniors, some more able-bodied than others, rallying around threats to constitutional democracy and pocketbook issues.
They really don't know clouds at all.
There was no evidence of violence or coordinated hateful activity at South Huntington, New York's No Kings Day rally yesterday.
@vivaldi.com Vivaldi crashes/restarts when trying to post to bluesky. Lucky I got this one out.
#NoKingsDay protests tomorrow at about 2.6k locations, per WaPo. Below, my photo of Suffolk County Police watching over and capturing imagery of the peaceful June 14th assembly in Huntington, Long Island. Also, via @newsday.bsky.social, a list of L.I. No Kings Day assemblies.

Great article by Jaclyn Moyer, from the emerald ash borer to the “intestines” and “macramé” of floodplain hydrology to fish to fire ecology to Indigenous culture, land, and genocide. www.hcn.org/issues/57-10...
Watching the Oregon ash vanish - High Country News
The emerald ash borer is killing the native tree. How do we make the most of the time while it’s still here?

Enough.

Awesome to see this billboard up in Vancouver.
Was really incredible to work with the people at @visionzerovancouver.ca to bring this to life.

If you (or your parents, grandparents, neighbors, friends, partners) find any of this #Medicare Open Enrollment stuff confusing, or just want to ask some questions to non-biased, certified, no-cost counselors, check out your local State Health Insurance Program www.shiphelp.org
Disclaimer: Speak to your state or county SHIP advisor for changes not yet published and about your personal circumstances.
However, only a few states allow you to move from MA plans to supplement plans - no questions asked. In most states, they let the insurance companies decide if they will take you and how much it will cost after checking your health history. But there may be an exception if your plan was cancelled.
Consider a Plan G (or F) high deductible option if your state offers them. It's a supplement plan (not a Medicare Advantage plan) with no network restrictions, and you pay 20% of what medicare approves (not much) until deductible is met. Do the math compared to a MA plan and see how it compares.
