Hobbyist VGM arranger (sometimes). Idiot clogging up your Bluesky feed, where I mostly vent rubbish. I haven't got a clue what I'm doing. Be kind to yourself and others. He/Him 💚💜🎗

Thought I'd repost the two #Spectrobes arrangements I made last year, as (surprisingly) I'm still proud of them after several months. I'd love to do more—especially orchestral stuff—but I've not had the best track record with motivation lol.

I was dreading Moodymaze Marsh because it was a bit bland and confusing in the original, but quite enjoyed it this time! The map and coloured areas helped a lot.

Some of the hidden collectables were hidden in dumb spots and not in the clever, hard-but-satisfying-to-reach ones, but it was still fun.

I'm only half-way through level two, so my opinions may change yet. But so far I'll say Yooka-Replaylee is a big improvement over the original, despite playing it safe in some regards. It's not the same as the original, for better and for worse, it is an all-round improvement.

I also feel that pagies are almost kind of worthless now there are so many of them and many are so trivial to get. The main collectable feels less like a reward and more a way to keep dopamine flowing. It's the same issue I had with Odyssey, though is definitely a personal preference thing.

I loved the idea of world expansion in the original, even if it was only executed well in two worlds. I understand why it was removed in Replaylee, but it was an incredibly unique idea that I hope may be implemented in a possible Twooka-Laylee.

I do think Replaylee has lost its identity partly, however. The original was Banjo-Kazooie's "spritual successor," but felt unique enough to stand out as its own. Replaylee, on the other hand, feels closer to Mario Odyssey. Not quite a carbon copy, but enough where it feels a bit more "generic."

It's visually stunning, movement is better, the camera is better, Rextro's arcade games are actually enjoyable, and the currency/tonic/customisation element is amazing.

I love the orchestrated tracks, though it's a shame the level variations weren't recorded live ('tis expensive, I understand).

Yooka-Replaylee is much better than the original Yooka-Laylee. It's not perfect and I still have an issue with the level design, but almost all the issues from the original have been fixed and improved.

In a poignant send-off for Pieces of Eight, the final video, Fiddler's Green, went up last week. Have you seen it yet? How are you doing? Need a hug?

I only ever played Mario and Sonic at the 2008 Olympic Games and, though I don't have much experience with either franchise, Sonic felt like it fit better than Mario.

Mario already has party and sports games, so this feels like a great decision for all.

Sonic fans have been eating good lately lol

Yooka & Laylee got a glow-up, so of course, the soundtrack had to as well. 🎶 Brand-new tracks + fully orchestrated classics from Wise, Kirkhope, Burke, Murdoch & Griffin — with the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra bringing it all to life. Turn it up! 🔊

Yooka-Replaylee launches October 9th.

Beating all the Death Wish missions in A Hat in Time is probably my biggest gaming achievement (grabbing the Cowbear in Katamari Forever coming second).

It was damn hard and the odd bits of jank didn't help, but the Deal has finally been Sealed.

It seems BlueSky has very much "lived long enough to become the villian."

I don't want to have to move social-media house again. Nowhere is sacred anymore...

Personally, I think "Maddie" looks better, though that's the only way I've seen it spelt.

"Maddi" is cool too, though I could see people mispronouncing "Madi" as "May-dee" or "Mad-eye".

Bonsai is supposed to be relaxing (that was the intent when I was gifted a kit), but like everything else it's just ended up stressing me out to the point where my brain switches off and I do nothing.

Just got to wing it, I guess. I'm sorry, little trees.
¯\_ (ツ)_/¯
eudorianlombax.bsky.social
Unsurprisingly, most sources are either repetitive articles written for the sole purpose of displaying adverts and harvesting cookies, YouTube clickbait, or—my favourite—AI nonsense that can't even describe what a tree looks like correctly.
eudorianlombax.bsky.social
The most difficult part of trying to grow bonsai from seed so far is not understanding what to do or when because every time I try to look up what should be simple, clear-cut information, all I find are the same vague, unhelpful, and oftentimes-irrelevant ramblings regurgitated over and over.

I know nothing about cameras, but just asked my sister who did photography at college and pursues it as a hobby and she recommends the Canon EOS 750D.

The bird photographers I follow use Nikons, so any entry-level camera from those brands seems like a decent choice (used may be best cost-wise). :)
