EU laws are there to protect nature. By doing so, they protect us - our health, quality of life, economic resilience.

Now, the European Commission wants to weaken these very laws… and they're asking for your opinion.

The nexus between trade and industry is a hot topic for the coming months.

We responded to the EU Commission's call for evidence on #CBAM with a 5-point submission, demanding that it will not be turned into a pure protectionist and trade defence measure.
Submission to consultation: Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM)

‘But it’s summer, it’s normal if it’s warm!’ No.

We need the EU to stand up against the climate deniers, the far right who are rolling back climate measures and fossil fuel lobbyists.

We need to phase out fossil fuels.
And invest in renewables.

The EU must act now.

⏩ Leuven aims for climate neutrality by 2030: solar roofs, public transport, circular material banks, big plans.

But budgets are tight, citizens are fatigued, and EU support is shrinking.

In our interview, Nick Meynen explains why local action can’t succeed without real backing from Brussels.
Can a city become climate neutral by 2030? Leuven is trying
Leuven is one of more than 100 European cities racing to reach climate neutrality by 2030. We explore how far the city has come.

Last week, we got more details about the US-EU trade deal... and it does not look good.

CSDDD, CSDR, CBAM, EUDR, gas, nuclear, cars, meat &more - all in there, not in a positive way.

This is just another example of the EU’s willingness to give up on the climate and energy transition commitments.

The EU’s Joint Research Centre this week reported nearly a million hectares have burnt across Europe since the beginning of the year, five times that of 2024.

A fivefold increase in the area burnt is an absolute catastrophe!

Before you dip your toes in this summer, consider this: ☠️ 90% of EU seas fail litter standards & ☣️ 80% are polluted with toxic chemicals.

The revision of the #MSFD & #MSPD is a chance to better link environmental & sectoral policies – without weakening ambition.

🌳 #CarbonRemovals will be needed to reach our climate goals, but which type and how much depends on many factors

The current EU framework is not sufficient and opens the door for #greenwashing and ineffective removals
