My challenge with Friendship was it couldn't decide whether it was set in a real world, where people mostly act like real people, or an absurdist comedy world where all rules are off. You need some understanding of that when there are narrative stakes

Paul Sullivan in the Tribune this morning. Dumb as hell. Milwaukee thanks Chicago for burning down in 1871, which made it the beer capital of the world. Beyond that they appreciate being so near to Chicago. They don't resent it. If anything they want to be more like the Milwaukee of 1960.
