September posts I’m proud of below.
An Animal Well “rest hub post I made that totally isn’t secretly an ARG. (: The beginning of a review thread I made of the Lackadaisy Pilot, where I pretend to review “the Lackadaisy DVD”, which was an excuse to experimentally critique in-depth aspects of the pilot through “extras” My response thread reviewing a post by Pud about trusting the artistic process. An experimental photography post I made, with a message on not wanting to bloat my BlueSky page too much.

#4. Verdict/review score:

Just gonna say it, this is my second favorite Lackadaisy YouTube video on the entire channel apart from the pilot, it’s such a stunning musical piece I just adore, and I hope I did it justice with my review.

10/10!

The last visual aspect to bring up in this video I guess are the character expressions.

I love when Mitzy & the band’s heads bop so much, shows they’re clearly enjoying the music, and I love Mordecai’s clear facial & hand-motive disinterest when he’s bumped into.

Cinematography-wise, while they’re are some incredible examples of still shots in the video (including ones I’ve screenshotted & already shown), this little video showcases my favorite thing about the cinematography: the camera movement.

Even before the video transitions into orange-y lighting, the more subtle blue lighting and how it bounces off both Mitzy’s fur & actively reflects Mitzy’s shiny dress is beautiful!

Love seeing some purple in the blue on the right as well, adds some personality.

#3. Lighting/cinematography/other visual elements

This is without a doubt my favorite lit YouTube video of 2025!

This background for example, it’s very orange, but I love how it becomes yellower the lower it gets, stunning! I also love the light atop off the top of the front cat’s head.

Especially the way she says “young”. If this was sung by one of those bad Star Spangled Banner singers, they would have extended the word “young” and sung it loudly in a not-Mitzy way, it’s way more in-character for her to sing “young” lightly, so she did.

Something about the way Willow sings here sounds like Mitzy, it sounds like musical theatre.

I’ve seen so many musical numbers in fiction where an actor sings the song well, but doesn’t nail the notes to sound like the character, Willow does.

I also want to take this time to praise Willow Wade (Mitzy’s VA), for not just singing so well, but singing so well as the character of Mitzy.

Props to a segment in a YMS video for inspiring what I’m about to say, but there’s a difference between singing very well & singing + acting at once.

But I think we all know the point of this segment, the instrumentals of this song (& Willow’s singing voice as Mitzy) are magical and come together perfectly!

I love the sound of every instrument I can hear in the audio: banjos, trumpets, I think the piano is still present after the opening.

#2. Audio

First of all, there’s some great sound effects in here..

The film grain sound that plays during the storytelling transitions (ex. on left), glass sound effects when glasses clang, the sound of the ball rolling across the gambling wheel (ex. on right), etc.

I put that “?” there because I don’t know when in the Lackadaisy timeline this takes place.

Regardless, I do believe this musical number alone tells the premise of the entire show well (it’s a love song to alcohol so it takes place during prohibition + you can make some parallels to Mitzy.)

#1. Story/Lyrics

We all know Lackadaisy takes place during the prohibition and stars bootleggers.

The lyrics here beautifully capture that premise, as well as Mitzy as a character.

I get 2 song premises from the lyrics..

A.) A love song to booze
B.) A love song to Mitzy’s late(?) husband

From the moment I saw/fell in love with it, I knew I had to break down why it works so well for me, I’ll split this thread into 4 segments.

1. Story/lyrics

2. Audio

3. Lighting/cinematography/other visuals

4. Verdict/review score

@lackadaisy.bsky.social Last Call review - It’s one of my top 10 favorite YouTube videos of 2025!

So I love seeing Glitch and Lackadaisy collab, but this review is about the quality of the “Last Call” musical number itself.

Like, nothing against the people involved with those mentioned movies as people, but no one involved with those tried to make a good movie, they all lazily slapped together a product (it’s obvious just by watching a Blumhouse film movies how lazy they are.)

AI makes me hate the company more.

ERT Babble

Sad but not surprised, Blumhouse movies are mostly bad, and the good ones have nothing to do with what the publisher sees in it.

Jason has always been a hack who doesn’t care about quality, he just wants money.

Fuck Night Swim, M3GAN, Truth or Dare, Imaginary, etc. for not trying.

Jason Blum says Hollywood should 'embrace AI' and viewers 'don't care if what they’re looking at is AI"

"it’s here to stay. It’s very important to use it ethically and legally, and for studios and guilds to protect the copyright of the artists"
