It was also a big theme in the third season of Westworld when Dolores goes to San Fran and meets the guy who helped her destroy this AI that runs the whole city and shelves unproductive people in "cold storage." A freer undirected-path system for rich people, and a directed-path algorithm for poor.

Anyway I really liked that article because it breaks down something we experience every day to a history of scientists trying to figure it out. Shortest paths algorithms are like a slot machine that runs our lives, entire economies and maybe even ecosystems, testing the strength of our will.

Maybe these talent agencies offer to connect you with more influential nodes and opportunities to increase your reach but they might take a cut of your earnings for helping you out. Then at the end of the day a lot of influencers are still at the mercy of the platform's algorithm itself.

Those of us chronically online have an intuitive sense that there is an economic algorithm at play here when it comes to how influencers negotiate their brand deals. A brand only wants to pay so much, while an influencer only knows so many people. Talent agencies act as a mutualistic parasite.

This is why brands always want to target big (highly connected but potentially complacent) or medium-growing (smaller but fiercely competitive) sized influencers depending on their marketing budget (persuasive leverage/potential energy) because they want that speed and wide reach.

Move backwards from the most influential nodes (the subway stations with most connections and thoroughfares) to you, and your intended directions. It's how virality happens on social media. Big accounts usually give an engagement boost to less connected accounts on both source and recipient end.

I've seen a few videos going around that are AI of alligators approaching babies 🐊👶 at front doors, or "giving back" babies to a front door of a house. 😐🤔 I'm more and more convinced the ppl using this tech want us to die. Even humorously trying to normalize alligator-child interactions ain't good.

It's also a very sacred herb 🌿 🌼 from South Africa that can help people with PTSD and dissociation/coming back into caring about their body, imo, so marketing it as a "libido enhancer" sounds so sleazy and gimmicky. 😩

People should know that Kanna and SSRIs don't mix, if you're already on a prescription serotonin medication.. but these "libido gummies" are just being packaged like candy at a store that teens frequent.

Also I was at the mall today with some folks and we saw that urban outfitters (didn't buy anything just browsed) was selling these "mojo libido gummies" with Kanna in them, at somewhat highish doses. (86mg supposedly per gummy) And uhh.. I don't think that is responsible.

🎃 I'm glad I waited to buy the pumpkin spice bone broth that was sitting in my cart today because they randomly discounted it by $30 more, plus my GET20 promo code, so it ended up being only about $25 after shipping and tax. Some more info! While I am lucky to have my top surgery cost covered, I am a low-income disabled person and a self-employed artist, and being off work over the holiday season will have a big financial impact.

Hello loves!

My name is Hank, and I'm a queer disabled artist and non-binary person. Great news - I'm getting top surgery in November! Hurrah! However, while I am lucky to live in a place where my top surgery is covered by provincial health insurance, I am a low-income disabled person and could use some financial support during recovery.

As most of you know, I have been living with a brain injury since 2019. Over the past few years, I've been able to start up an art business, primarily selling at local markets. My surgery is scheduled for November 7, which means that I’ll be unable to work holiday markets or take on holiday commissions this year. My art business is a critical part of my income, and holiday markets typically provide me with crucial support for the first few months of winter.

Your support will help cover any additional costs related to surgery, as well as any post-recovery medical needs, like physiotherapy. Most importantly, it will ease the financial strain of being unable to work this holiday season and help make my recovery stress-free. There is significant financial burden associated with disability, and any support to reduce that during my recovery is beyond appreciated ❤
