I know a lady who got over 50 stitches in her face from a box proud horse. She was just feeding him. He went for her cheek with his teeth. She needed 3 months of physical therapy and had to learn how to talk again. Carry a whip. But also, maybe reorganize how and when they are fed.

In October I don't need an alarm, as a huge flock of corvids will gather and gossip all around our building. One jackdaw in particular likes to bark down the airshaft leading to my bathroom. I wish I spoke his language, he has stories.

Deeply sorry for your loss. He was very lucky to have you. I hope that you receive all the support that you will most definitely need in the near future. The trauma of not being able to resuscitate a loved one is very difficult to move past. Wishing you strength.

Being a horse person of too many decades , I could see that this is a mule. Being that I am also a human who appreciates a lovely story about a genuine encounter, I saw no reason to intercede. Equines are equines, and people are, you know.
