I think “clanker” is funny as all fuck when used in reference to AI or sometimes fictional robots, but you can definitely tell when somebody is being weird.

Extremely grateful for the mentors and friends who encouraged me to go all-in on Marisa because, man, hitting new personal bests, beating powerhouses, on the character I enjoy the most, regardless of what any tier list has to say, is probably the best feeling in fighting games.

I’ve had a couple of those, and this isn’t that. Pure neurodivergent sensory overload. Getting a chunk of cardio minutes on my Fitbit is par for the course for nerve-racking tournaments.

I can’t remember the last time I got this level of sensory overload from an SF6 event that wasn’t at least advertised as a regional, but this may very well have been regional level without me processing it as such.

This local started earlier than usual (bracket at 1 PM instead of 5 PM) but I am unspeakably exhausted. Like can’t handle loud noises, hands tingly, took a migraine med kind of overload. Maybe it’s from how long my heart was racing in bracket? Or my matches all being stream?

I also got to commentate several sets with Rell today at the local which was amazing because

1. oh my god, I can actually track and explain situations as they unfold in matches in real time now

Best I have EVER played in Philly, and ONLY lost (brutally) to the guy who won the entire tournament from losers side in convincing fashion.

That was a 2-0 on Bass. Not 2-1. Closed out with a perfect KO.

3-1 Emjay (Terry,) and 3-2 DoubleProcess (Ryu).

2 DQs, so I stayed hot in casuals.

First set, got mauled by UncleWreck’s JP.

Proceeded to beat Bass, Emjay, and the new Shoto kid who sent Bass to losers, IN A ROW on stream.

And was only stopped at 4th place by once again UncleWreck’s execution.

4th out of 32, 5-2 (2 wins were DQs), seed 9

My execution on Ken was also, bizarrely, better than before I shelved him. I think just playing the game is gradually improving my comfort with the harder-execution stuff like multi-motion-input combos and run stop extensions. I kept it simple, but I felt more stable.
