This is what we're doing: showing socially-conscious, eco-conscious, and/or changemaker business owners how to boost profit margins and change the world together.

Does that resonate with you?

If so, hit the follow button and join the movement!

Here's the one I was referencing. Found it in a post I shared a few years ago.

The fact that this exists still warms my heart so much!

Makes me wish I ran a food business right now, so I could help more...
One of my favorite things of all time is a cafe that lets people buy a lunch for those who can't afford it.

They ring it up like normal, hang the receipt on the wall, and anyone can come in, browse the receipts, pull out the one they want, and bring it to the register for that meal at no charge.
💞💞
Absolutely bonkers!

And honestly, I'd love an ads platform that helps small businesses grow AND that doesn't donate to or hang out with fascists.

But this definitely ain't it.
Meanwhile, PP gets paid to show those ads & uses some of the money to fund a fascist regime.

Please don't even consider this atrocious idea that will do more harm than good to your business, your customers, and society!

Add this to the steaming pile of "Meta makes billions from scammer ads" today.
Once they click away, they forget about their purchase and your brand.

Your relationship with them goes back to lukewarm.

And they unsubscribe when they don't recognize your emails in their inbox

Good luck winning them back!
And before they can deepen their relationship with you, they see ads for another product/service...

One click and they're gone. Into the arms of another brand!

WHYYYYYY???????

You had them right where you wanted them! On YOUR page, surrounded by YOUR branding, building a relationship.
Imagine... a wonderful human who is your absolute dream customer/client just entered their payment details to buy something from you...

They step into the world beyond your paywall for the first time ever, excited to see what's on the inside...
Speaking of ads... Got this email today (even though we boycott this brand b/c of their leadership's huge donations to the 🟠🤡)

Let me just say ~ No no no no no NOOO!!!

Never put ads for another company's offers on your post-checkout pages!! What the actual F?

I have so much to say about this...
So the systems that hurt YOUR business, doesn't hurt them.

In fact, if you read the article, it shows that Meta's systems flagged those ads and charged them a premium price to "discourage" them from running ads.

They literally admitted that ads for illegal shit is more profitable!

WTF?!?!?
What's extra infuriating ~ for any ethical business who's run Meta ads before ~ is that the automated systems that rejected your ads (or banned your biz) let these scammers continue to promote illegal items, banned items, fake companies, counterfeiters, investment scams, and more.
I popped over to Threads to see if anyone is talking about the $7BILLION/year Meta makes from running ads for known frauds and scams (and the internal documents that project that will be increase to $16B this year...)

But nope, I couldn't find anything.
Take a look at this flyer & tell me who the real immigrants are...

Every county in the San Francisco Bay Area has a Spanish name and we're living on stolen Ohlone land.

This is a sanctuary city in a sanctuary county in a sanctuary state.

ICE is the one who doesn't belong here!

Love you Alameda 💞
I know there are much bigger issues in the world right now & your feed is full of posts about the problems, solutions, and reports from the front lines.

This post isn't intended to ignore any of that. It's for the humans who are LIVING all of that & can't imagine "locking in" right now...
If locking-in and going big in Nov/Dec helps you, go for it!

Or, if a cozy slow-down feels like a better solution, do that instead.

There's no right or wrong way. We all need something different right now to maintain health, energy, and goal setting.

What's working for you right now?
All in all, I'm slowing down, choosing healthier versions of things so I can heal and find the energy/clarity I'll need for 2026.

We're in the middle of the world's worst marathon and we can't afford to be collapsing in the first quarter.
~ I'm changing where I spend my time online.

This one's tricky because it's easy to replace one doom scroll with another.

I watch YouTube vids instead of scrolling Meta. (Sometimes I just play lo-fi girl videos & crochet!)

I play chess on Duolingo instead of online games that up my stress levels.
~ Instead of trying to completely stop unhealthy habits, I'm trying to replace some of them with healthier versions.

For example, when I want a cocktail, I make it with homemade lemon honey instead of sugar.

Maybe I'll feel like making honey lemon tea next time instead. Progress, not perfection.
~ I'm taking care of my environment as much as myself.

I recently did a deep cleaning and I invested in some new tools to help me keep my home and office spaces clean.

I'm also trying to turn cleaning time into something more meditative and cozy, not just a rush to get it done.
~ First, I'm slowing down. I can't make good decisions right now about goals/2026 because I'm exhausted and burnt out from 2025.

I want to make goals from a grounded state, not a reactionary one.

So I'm focusing on healing my nervous system & rituals that help me relax more.
A lot of folks are "locking in" for the rest of 2025 to get a head-start on 2026 goals.

I love the idea, but it would never work for me b/c winter is the hardest time for me to start new habits that require *more* discipline or energy.

Here's what I'm doing instead as a human and business owner:
Yes you CAN stop using Amazon for all your books, Kindle, Audible, movies, shipping, goods, and AWS.

It's possible and once you get over the initial shock it's actually painless.

Support the bookstores that support you back.
Amazon is helping fund a $300 million build of a ballroom for the White House.

Independent bookstores are donating to food banks and organizations that help with food insecurity.

They are not the same.
I'm weird with you! I adore custom made and always happy to wait however long it takes.

One of my most commonly-used phrases in ALL areas of my life is, "no rush." And I MEAN it. I'm fine with waiting for my food at a restaurant, my drink order, my Etsy order, customer service to look into it, etc.
