You *really* should be by now but you don’t *actually* have to call them liars or racists, if it offends your commitment to now almost entirely redundant BBC principles of ‘objectivity’ & ‘ balance’. You just have to ask them again & again & again to justify their words & explain their exact meaning

I’ve been saying this for ten years now but possibly not often enough: Ask Them What They Think The Words They’re Using Mean. And then ask them to name the ‘problematic’ people. We had ‘sovereignty’, ‘laws’ & ‘unelected bureaucrats’. The US now has ‘Antifa’, the ‘radical left’ & ‘insurrection’. Ask!

Yep. In the Uk we've got Farage and his very own MAGA party, Reform. They are riding high in the polls.
You can warn people all you like, and I do. But when you're up against ignorance, hate and the propaganda machine of the heavily funded far right. It's not going to be an easy fight.

a diagnosis with no light edges.
I will love you through the horror of your mind
the pills lined like soldiers on the counter,
each one a promise and a poison,
each swallow a coin flipped
between survival and surrender.
I will love you through the ashtrays
overflowing like graveyards of small deaths,
through the bottles like broken dreams
stacked beside your bed.
I will love you through the nights
when your thoughts turn septic,
when the room smells of death and waste,
when you clutch the blankets like a tourniquet
to stop the bleeding of your will.
I will love you when you try to carve
yourself out of your own body,
when you try to excise the pain
with oblivion.
I will love you when you are unrecognizable
even to your own reflection,
when you are all shadow and no skin,
when the only heartbeat in the room
is mine, stubborn as a drum
refusing silence.

There were quite a few Irish kids at the schools I attended. With very traditional names. I got used to a lot of the pronunciations. But I have to use Google whenever I come across one I dont know how to say.

I guess the reason they're anglicised is because so many Irish names are hard for non-Irish people to pronounce in their original forms. If you're not familiar with the correct pronunciation, it can be a bit confusing.
