I like where the series ends up at, but how it gets there isn’t satisfying at all. I’m also not a super big action nerd, but it really felt like this season had a lack of action/fights and the finale is badly missing one. It feeds us a fan service montage without us having really earned it.

I ranked the first season of Peacemaker at 5 stars, it’s still an excellent season to watch today.

Season 2 is 3 stars from me. There’s some good stuff here and great acting, but Gunn fell into the Marvel trap of making the setup of more DCU projects overshadow the plot and especially the finale.

I know it’s a nothing burger but it blows my mind they didn’t censor the Winston Cup or the Bud logos on the door behind Jr. in the intro

Pass the massage along that I’m thankful there are credits. People working on them got burned on the Heat games because of not having those

John Cena and Jennifer Holliand have been the most impressive actors in Peacemaker, but Danielle Brooks hit the game winner in the season finale. What a scene

It’s not going to be as easy because the Titanic did not have a bad guy or a villain, so to say. Unless we count the iceberg as one. Whereas there is too much story potential there with the hijackers and terrorists for Hollywood to shoehorn in a love story.

This being said, I hope we do eventually have the same thing Ignition had where drivers could retire and be replaced by an Xfinity Series driver, depending on what manufacturer has the vacancy (ie Connor Zilisch replacing fellow Chevy driver Kyle Busch)

If you can remember, this was a path that Cadillac may have gone down in another world where they got the FIA approval to compete in Formula 1 but not a commercial agreement with FOM. F1 telecast would ignore the two cars and they would not be in graphics, but they would still be competing.

It's a miracle we have silly season in any racing game. Probably the only reason why we have it in F1 is because the teams have to make a commercial agreement with Formula One Management (FOM, aka Liberty) that gives Liberty much more leeway in how they can use and represent the drivers NIL rights

@dgoodin24.bsky.social would you buy NASCAR 25 or not at this point?

The one thing I’ll give them so far is that they do seem to be doing the right thing on RCs. The highest of the 11 drivers revealed in this video were Briscoe with an 89. Assuming SVG is a 100, that should mean the low 90s will be the absolute peak for the other Cup drivers. Maybe Conor is a 95.

The driver by-track ratings on NASCAR 25 are absolutely atrocious, I almost want to just wait for the PC version if we can’t fix them

It is very remarkable that Elliott has always been a top 5 driver in Cup except for year one and in 2018 and 2019 when Chevrolet brought the worst manu package they have ever had in 50 some years. And that by this metric, he’s by far the best of the Next Gen era in spite of ranking 7th in wins.
finleyfactor.com
If NASCAR made the unexpected move of changing the point system back to the Latford system in addition to a full season championship, nobody would benefit from it more than Elliott. Average finish usually determined the champion at the end of the season, as long as said champion started every race.

Where Elliott has finished in average finish ranking by season:

2016: 11th (14.6)
2017: 5th (12)
2018: 6th (12.3)
2019: 13th (15.1)
2020: 4th (11.7)
2021: 4th (11.4)
2022: 1st (12.5)
2023: 5th (13.1)*
2024: 1st (11.7)
2025: 2nd (12)*

Maybe the weirdest Cup stat I’ve found recently is that Chase Elliott has the career highest average finish among all active Cup drivers with 12.8. This ranks very well historically in spite of Elliott having spent about 40% of his career in the next gen spec car era, 23rd all time.

Maybe the best historical example of this being Bret Hart

I am working on something about this, but the ultimate irony of the Richmond 2013 fallout is that NASCAR has now created a culture where 12 years later, Richmond 2013 happens once every three weeks in the fall.
