Tigers should have taken the easy way out and have a reliever freak out and air mail a throw an hour ago

Also I’m betting even Pritzker could beat the fuhrer in a push-up contest
flipstostock.bsky.social
But your point about having no faith in them to sign the right players is well taken.

I think you can do both. Crawford replaces Marsh, Miller replaces Stott or Bohm, then you can still switch out Schwarber, the Castellanos/Kepler spot, and Stott or Bohm (or both) with free agents.

Ehhh I would go all in. Just differently. Remake the whole damn lineup with guys who are professional hitters. No more guys who are worthless vs lefties. No more guys who will hit two homers in one game but go 1-for-12 in the other three.

I should clarify when I say I want them to resign those three guys, it needs to be reasonable deals. With Bader for example I’d give him like no more than 3/36. Ranger I think the 5/115 projection is fair but I wouldn’t go much higher than that.

I don’t think 2/30 is unreasonable at all for the delta between even a 35-year-old JT and whatever alternative you would end up with.
flipstostock.bsky.social
Nobody wants to talk about it but the Dodgers’ top hitters did nothing either and their bullpen sucked too. The $45mil disparity in payrolls gave them the depth to overcome it. Middleton is just as culpable as Bryce/Kyle/Trea and Kerkering.
flipstostock.bsky.social
They already have a defensive 2B who can’t hit
flipstostock.bsky.social
I’m tired of “put the money somewhere else.” Middleton needs to put the money in more places.
flipstostock.bsky.social
What’s the alternative, though? I would rather have a declining JT at like 2/30, which is what I’ve read is the likely projection, than Marchan or anyone on the FA market.

This series certainly should not all fall on him for that one play. But by the same note, looking beyond just that one play, he has proven over and over again that he is borderline unusable in the playoffs.

If Middleton lets Ranger walk after seeing how the Dodgers’ surplus starters shut them down out of the pen, he doesn’t really care that much about that trophy that he used to call his
flipstostock.bsky.social
If Middleton really wants the trophy back after 18 years, he will open the checkbook and:
- Resign Ranger, JT, and Bader
- Let Kyle and Keller walk
- Dump Casty and trade Stott, Bohm, Marsh, and Kerkering
- Spend big on five new hitters and three new high-leverage relievers

Now’s the time to make a change. Mini bye followed soon by full bye.
flipstostock.bsky.social
Most of what you say is right except I don’t want to hear about him being a good kid. He has proven time and again he can’t handle big moments. Go be a good kid in Pittsburgh or something.
flipstostock.bsky.social
OK but there are seven other positions and they can also try having more than two dependable relievers.

Middleton just might have to spend.

It’s weird how the eagles alternate like double-digit win streaks with stretches where they look like the worst team in the league. There’s almost no in between.
flipstostock.bsky.social
Don’t come back, Eagles. Just take the month off. Forfeit the next two and let’s start over at 4-4 after the bye.
