yeah totally fair! the song is, in a lot of ways, a hodge podge of lyrics that don't seem to go together cohesively. it feels like 3 different songs cut & pasted together. its def not a true track 5 in that way.

like i know taylor is actually the eldest daughter but she's also acted in that older sibling role for many artists - olivia, gracie, sabrina, & many more i'm sure. i just think of this album as a full story expansion of the song "the lucky one" on red

there's something else to the eldest daughter angle i feel. she calls ophelia the eldest daughter in TFOO & sabrina is the "baby of the family" in TLOAS. the song has the line "every eldest daughter was the first lamb to the slaughter" & "every youngest child felt they were raised up in the wild"
