more and more people are seeing this man in their dreams at night

I like it, but I also feel like all the rougelike elements just drag it down. Really wish it was just a pure beat 'em up, but what can you do anymore. Also, its overall structure is way too much like Hades, but in a way that just makes it feel derivative.

Some of the blame, at least, has to lie with Capcom refusing to show the game four months after the reveal. Leon or not, it's frustrating how Onimusha, a game with no release date, has more footage and information available. Capcom controls the narrative here, and it seems like they don't care.

201 soon. I've been busy with work. Looking forward to it.

I think I might stream on my next day off. It's been way too long, and there are a lot of things I want to complain about that no mere post could sufficiently cover. Also, NG4 is out so sooooooon.

It's all compounded by the fact that Capcom just won't show it. I don't feel like I'm being unreasonable to ask to see even just a shred of gameplay. Not even one single combat encounter? Nothing? Just empty promises and allusions to the game "feeling more like RE2R than 4".

My ultimate fear for RE9, especially after the interview with Nakanishi at TGS, is that the game is going to be a lot like The Last of Us. Sneaking around zombies, using empty glass bottles to distract enemies, saving those same glass bottles for a crafting system. It's all very worrying.

Takes a lot of balls to release some of the worst entries in the series history, back to back to back, only to then hit everyone with the "trust us" before launching pre-orders still not having shown a single frame of tangible gameplay.

Capcom, working diligently to create the first video game with no discernible gameplay whatsoever.

I know this image looks like a cryptid, but I'm at work and can't download the video.

Ayane just revealed in Ninja Gaiden 4. I'm chewing at the bars of my enclosure.

So we were scrolling through "restorativland" (the Geocities backup repository) and we randomly found Jen Zee's (the art director at Supergiant of Hades 1/2 fame) old Geocities site. Very cool to stumble upon this.

Ultimately, it's just sad that every new beat 'em up has some caveat associated with it. Either they're too easy, too long, or filled with feature creep / bloat. Marvel Cosmic Invasion looks awful, for example. Just nostalgia bait for people who couldn't care less about the genre.

I'm very much looking forward to Absolum, but I'm also a little tired of everything needing to be a Roguelike. I trust Guard Crush to make another excellent game, but I'm wondering why they felt the need to fall back on these modern progression systems.

It's incredible. One of the best remasters Square has done. If only their other games had received the same treatment.

I've played it on and off over the years, but I always got distracted grinding. This is the first time I've finished it.

It might be one of the best endings I've ever seen. I'm completely floored.

While Tactics has a fairly hopeful ending, the scene that plays after the credits is quite sad. Right to the very last second, the game pulls no punches. The world of Ivalice is cruel, and all those who hold power within it are reprehensible. The very last lines in the game are sobering.

After all of these years, I finally finished Final Fantasy Tactics. The work Square did on this is incredible and should be the standard for projects like this. If only FF7, 8, and 9 received similar treatment.

Got to the final battle in Final Fantasy Tactics only to realize that I put the game into easy mode, to grind, at the beginning of Chapter 4, and forgot to turn it off. Whoops 😅
