After I posted about the No Kings event in Paris, some folks got upset with me. So I made this to express how sorry I am.
Banksy Balloon Girl homage, but instead of a heart balloon she's releasing the head of a draft-dodging felon fascist.

You just kinda weigh your options and take your chances.

Over there, the sidewalk was closed for construction. Hanging on the caution fencing was a little yellow sign pointing at my side of the street and reading "Traverse de pietons obligatoire" (pedestrians must cross).

Save a little money, Paris. Just put one sign in the middle of the road that says 🤷‍♂️

[Expat Diary: Very Paris Things]

On my usual route to the gym I found that the sidewalk was torn up for work on gas lines. There was, of course, a little yellow sign on the caution fencing, pointing across the street and reading "Traverse de pietons obligatoire" (pedestrians must cross).

Nailed it! Sixpences and farthings, I bought them at a shop on Savile Row years ago.

Well thank goodness I picked up two pairs of cufflinks at that brocante yesterday, I was almost out.
Overhead view of a jewel box tray with 24 compartments lined in black velvet. They are each filled with at least two, and in some cases as many as six, pairs of cufflinks of all descriptions, including a pair knitted in lace weight yarn by a wonderfully insane friend of mine.

Checking the fit on the sleeve of this doll sweater while my grandmother's ghost asks me how this is a profession for a grown man.
Partially-complete knitted sleeve slipped over the arm of an antique doll, with the body of the sweater laid flat in the background. The knitted fabric is patterned with a red diamond trellis over a background of pink and white stripes.

It will have a steeks cut to open the armholes and the back. (Dolls have big heads, a back opening will allow me to put it on her without having a ridiculously large neckline.) The whole process will be chronicled on Patreon. (There's a link in my profile.)

This is my own design, using dear Elizabeth Zimmerman's Norwegian ski sweater method from "Knitting Workshop" (from Schoolhouse Press).

Doll number two, whom I have christened Thaïs after the legendary Greek courtesan who instigated the burning of Persepolis, will have a stranded colorwork jumper in the same yarns from Woolia (by Gepard) that I used for the first doll's outfit.

The vintage doll who will be the centerpiece of the holiday windows at @lestricoteursvolants has been joined in the workroom by a second vintage doll. It was inevitable. More than one window, more than one doll.
A length of handknitting in a simple diamond color work pattern. The diamonds are worked in red, the background alternates between white and pink. The balls of working yarn are arranged along the right side.

The pattern offers two variations: a single and a double width. Each kit includes enough yarn to make two single scarves or one double scarf.

Fleuron was inspired by antique French book illustrations in my collection. I shared them with the incomparable Canon Hand Dyes, who somehow managed to evoke the luminous quality of ink on paper in wool.

Knit Stars Season 10 open enrollment continues...my affiliate link* follows.

This is Fleuron, one of the exclusive pattern kits designed to accompany my masterclass in shadow knitting, the intriguing structure that hides patterns inside what appears, at first, to be a simple striped fabric.

Me: Oh. Certainly, monsieur. Perhaps you would like to hang onto these anyway, so you can shove them up your ass?

[Expat Diary: Give Them an Inch]

There is a guest in the workroom, using the floor, pins, and blocking mats to pin out a shawl.

Me: Sure. You want a long one or a short one?

Guest: Baaahth, plez.

[Nice animals of my neighborhood, an occasional series]

A mésange bleue (Cyanistes caeruleus) from the courtyard appears at one of the kitchen windows to ask about borrowing a cup of insects.
A little bird with a yellow breast and a splash of blue on the top of its head, perched on the crossbar of a Parisian window. In the near background are a potted rosemary and a potted pink heather.
