They had a bit of everything you might want to do for crafts, and they had it at a nice quality level too. I wish I had grabbed more yarn when I was there but it was in my era where I had stopped knitting but hadn’t gotten into crochet yet.

Only downside is Cordova is one of those Alaskan towns you can only get to by plane (of which only flies in 2x a day, one northbound, one southbound), or by ferry. But seriously, I dreaaaam of going back to this craft store, it was so nice.

I spent a month there visiting family three years ago and I must have gone in there at least twice a week. Ended up needing an extra bag to bring all the supplies home.

Went to my local Micheals tonight, and the mourning for Joann Fabrics really hit me.

Like my local Joann was fine (I was spoiled by the one near my parents), but it was better than this.

I'm (finally) working on new articles/talks.

As a part of that, I'd like to hire a new artist for every article to create a unique hero image for each piece

Do you all have any resources/sites to find artists for these purposes these days?

I'd also like to hire those most in need of work.

This ghost Pikachu (sorry, Pikaboo) that follows your mouse only to hide when you hover over him is a very cute and spooky little guy. codepen.io/morganepeng/...

Seriously, the code AI generates for UI rarely matches what I actually need, it's almost always easier/faster to do it myself the right way.

It definitely pops up a lot in manga / manhwa / webtoons to indicate the speaker is off frame.

Couldn’t say it better myself!

As a bit of self promotion, here is a little vampire guy I made probably seven years ago now. CSS has definitely evolved quite a bit since then, and it would be interesting to figure out how I would do things different now. codepen.io/sfrisk/pen/Q...

Some of the coolest people on Bluesky are those geeking out about CSS and/or accessibility. Great vibes almost every time.

This little witch is so cute and I love her. (Also I love anything that's just 100% CSS to do cool art)

It's spooky month, and I wanna look at fun spooky month themed art/code. So here is a thread of fun spooky stuff I found this month! Feel free to reply with cool spooky stuff!

The idea I currently I am bouncing around is one where the date format keeps changing every time you interact with the field (including blur/focus).

This one is so much fun! (And I never want to have to use it)

We are already seeing some fantastic (but horrible) contributions to the Bad UX World Cup! 😃

This year's challenge: Create a horrible date picker!

See all the contributions (so far) here: badux.lol

This is an excellent read! There's some stuff around CSS and color I've missed in recent years while blinders focused on only longstanding work project (doing new/small projects often helps with staying on top of stuff), but @kevinpowell.co did an excellent job breaking a lot of stuff down.

Whether you've got a firm grasp on modern CSS colour capabilities, or you're thinking 'I struggle to understand why I should use modern CSS colours at all', then the first part of this article series, by Kevin Powell, is for you.

Once I finish the site refresh (which will finally have a place to devote to these random projects I like doing that aren't strictly web dev related), I'm planning on getting back into doing some game dev related stuff again.

Quills are coming along (although I think I have hit the point where I am going to call it good for the night)
Hedgehog embroidery WIP, with only the ears, and the top of the head/part of the right side filled in with thread.
