I guess they've really been doing this for a while though. Half-assing their lower court arguments. Submitting arrogant nonsense that contradicts their public statements. Phoning in insultingly stupid lies to questions from judges. and SCOTUS hasn't been bothered. Now they're too lazy to even bother
fruitbasketnews.bsky.social
Haha I mean I hope this sort of laziness bites them in the ass at some point.

This is how authoritarianism cements itself in power and crushes opposition, all while the eggheads debate if it's fascism or something else.

BREAKING via WSJ

The Trump administration is planning sweeping changes in criminal division at the IRS.

Full Story: on.wsj.com/3LbVFtK
The Trump administration is preparing sweeping changes at the Internal Revenue Service that would allow the agency to pursue criminal inquiries of left-leaning groups more easily, according to people familiar with the matter.
A senior IRS official involved in the effort has drawn up a list of potential targets that includes major Democratic donors, some of the people said.
The undertaking aims to install allies of President Trump at the IRS criminal-investigative division, or IRS-CI, to exert firmer control over the unit and weaken the involvement of IRS lawyers in criminal investigations, officials said. The proposed changes could open the door to politically motivated probes and are being driven by Gary Shapley, an adviser to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

Why waste your time arguing with the lower courts when you're doing a smash and grab that SCOTUS will indirectly bless without comment?

I also burst out laughing at the end of "There will be blood"
fruitbasketnews.bsky.social
Not to say it was a bad movie. I'd give it a B or B+. A few moments that worked superficially as episodic drama + TONS of really funny stuff. my thing about Paul Thomas Anderson movies is that I tend to laugh really hard in the theater when no one else is laughing. The Master is a great example

Lots of forgettable "radicals" shouting cartoonist cliches and then being forgotten by the plot. probably the most overrated movie in a generation

One Battle After Another? A mildly disappointing movie. The political stuff was infantile & way too many jokes fell flat. But Sean Penn as a rage monster, staggering around saying insane things? Amazing. As was the car chase. I'm sure SOMEONE filmed 1 like that before, but MY GOD that was cool

this 13-year-old boy VIOLENTLY assaulted Our Brave ICE Agents (at a rate of 2500%) by saying "don't kidnap me"

NEW — I dug into the story of ICE abducting a 13-year-old boy in Massachusetts and moving him 500 miles across state lines without notifying his mother, local cop's complicity, and how the federal government's justification for such cruelty is already falling apart:
ICE took a 13-year-old they said had a gun. Local cops say he didn’t.
Now he's detained 500 miles away from his Massachusetts home.

i respect that JD Vance is defending this stuff. kind of sad that he's still managing to act indignant about it though. just say you like it!!!

Yeah. The constant whining, crying, and feigned victimhood is a practiced skill that - like tobacco chewing - eventually takes hold as a permanent, odious character trait
