Went back to the matsutake - pine #mushroom patch yesterday and brought home six. I left the others to spore out. I have never had this area give me more than 6-8 for the season. I am now at 11 and more should be coming depending on weather. At this young stage they pack more flavour 👇

It really depends on rain and temps. I have found puffballs at beginning of August which is rare. It could also be that the tree is done producing food for the mushrooms so they don't fruit anymore and move on to a more suitable host.

We roughly set up the tree today to get an idea on how it will look. Will get some tiny wire lights instead of these big bulky ones. Attached some red belted conks to give a mushroom/nature vibe lol. It will serve as our Christmas tree too. It's going to be a long winter I believe. My poor hubby 😂

And everything else the regime is destroying and taking away, it is just so heartbreaking watching. Hopefully, the upcoming no kings protest will help? We have our problems in Canada and I am so thankful that Carney got voted in. If not we would also be doomed. We have our own Maple Maga's here.

I really feel for our American neighbours and I am so sorry this has happened. I heard the orange turd received his covid and flu shot after pushing all the crazy anti-vax propaganda. Make it make sense?

A lovely fruiting of Turkey Tail for the start of our Thanksgiving weekend. Our Son, DIL and Frankie are coming over on Sunday. I haven't seen Frankie in awhile and can only imagine how much he has grown. I do miss not having a dog and we are considering welcoming another in our home/life. 👇

Both of us got our covid shots today in #ontario for free. Flu shot in two weeks. We have been getting our flu shots for twenty years and covid for five and we're still not dead. Xoxo We believe in science. And now manufactured in #quebec

These are cultivated mushroom and I grow them on hardwood shavings. They are native to Ontario and found in mixed forests.

Some pictures of that super cool moon the other day, it lit the whole place up. Picture was taken from the middle deck of the house. Awning got in the way of the second picture. Nature is so beautiful - I wish the world was. ❤️❤️❤️

Picked the wine caps this morning. Not a bad size for freezing temps last night. I will cut the mycelium off the base and start a new mushroom bed. Yum Yum in my Tum and stems are edible too.

Looks like the chubby wine caps aren't going to abort and will go full term. Crazy because on Monday temp was 27 c and today is 13 c. Will cover them tonight and harvest tomorrow. They won't be full of bugs with the cooler temps. Yeah!!

I chop up the stems in small pieces and freeze. When I have enough in the soup pot they go. Everything is just so expensive.
