Went back to the matsutake - pine #mushroom patch yesterday and brought home six. I left the others to spore out. I have never had this area give me more than 6-8 for the season. I am now at 11 and more should be coming depending on weather. At this young stage they pack more flavour 👇

Both of us got our covid shots today in #ontario for free. Flu shot in two weeks. We have been getting our flu shots for twenty years and covid for five and we're still not dead. Xoxo We believe in science. And now manufactured in #quebec

These are cultivated mushroom and I grow them on hardwood shavings. They are native to Ontario and found in mixed forests.

Some pictures of that super cool moon the other day, it lit the whole place up. Picture was taken from the middle deck of the house. Awning got in the way of the second picture. Nature is so beautiful - I wish the world was. ❤️❤️❤️

Picked the wine caps this morning. Not a bad size for freezing temps last night. I will cut the mycelium off the base and start a new mushroom bed. Yum Yum in my Tum and stems are edible too.

Lol ok I will look into it. I'm not the only one that loves mushrooms - perfect. I like anything to do with nature, pets, gardens, cooking, music...etc

Looks like the chubby wine caps aren't going to abort and will go full term. Crazy because on Monday temp was 27 c and today is 13 c. Will cover them tonight and harvest tomorrow. They won't be full of bugs with the cooler temps. Yeah!!

I chop up the stems in small pieces and freeze. When I have enough in the soup pot they go. Everything is just so expensive.

Look at these adorable chubby guys! I thought my wine caps beds were done for the season? The warm weather has started them up again. Hopefully they don't abort as the weather is changing starting tomorrow with rain and cooler temperatures.

Being a perennial fungus it grows larger with each year. I found one once the size of a small table. It is used for traditional medicine in different cultures, to a canvas for creating intricate works of art.

Artist conk - Ganoderma applanatum growing around a stick and will eventually consume it. It is parasitic and saprophytic, meaning it attacks and decomposes trees and is more common on dead trees than living ones. 👇

The forest was quiet today as I figured it would be as we have had no rain in weeks. Came home early and worked around the house as there is always work. My milkweed is bursting out and I will spread around the property. Admiring my Canadian flag and glad to be 🍁❤️🍁 Made matsutake quiche for tonight.
