One of the things I’m most pissed off at Biden for not spearheading is removing that entire memo from the official guidance of DOJ. It should’ve been made explicitly clear during his admin that no POTUS going forward (including himself) while in office should be immune against criminal investigation

All of this shit should be fast-tracked, hold special emergency sessions if need be, delay other long-running but less important cases.

If we ever get out of this, we need to codify emergency measures like this into the law for the judiciary.

One of the things we should demand of the next Democrat presidential nominee is that they agree if elected to push for the US to join the ICC.

We’re going to need to do a lot of penance for what we’ve done over the past decade plus, that includes finally being held accountable on the global stage.

This fact alone needs to be made more of a big deal in everyone’s socials & dinner table conversations. Millions of federal employees and military members are going without pay!

If my reps were not already some of the most outspoken and involved pro-democracy Dems, I would be doing that. I’ve debated about calling into the offices of various shitheel GOP and DINO representatives and claiming to be a constituent to make more demands, but I don’t want to get tagged as “fake”.

The court cannot make up interpretations of the law that require Alice in Wonderland-levels of detachment from reality. They aren’t Gods, and they can’t rule the sky is Orange or that water is dry. That’s pretty close to how unreal some of these SCOTUS rulings are turning out to be!

…the real truth is anyone who actually follows the law, the Constitution and history can see that the far right majority on this court are delivering rulings that fly in the face not just of legal precedent but black letter law as well. At some point, it need be said “these emperors have no robes”

I honestly think the time may be near when the judges of these courts just beneath SCOTUS may have to speak in unison to call out a particularly egregiously wrong SCOTUS ruling as being legally illegitimate.

It would violate every norm & boundary instilled into them through our history, but…

Almost all. On the national stage there’s usually a handful w/ actual integrity. But there’s a lot more good folks on the lower rungs of state & local governments

The reason they are so compromised by the time they get to DC is because of the big money backers and the deals they made to get there.

I should say that this issue doesn’t seem to be evident at comics & fandom conventions: there I see all sorts of amazingly-drawn creative fanart, most of which is family-friendly, or at least PG-13. Partly that might be because conventions tend to downplay the explicit stuff, but it’s nice to see.

I should also mention that I also have no problem with NSFW content, I’ve done quite a few mild pinups over the years, and have been considering doing a book of more explicit work. I just wish more of what I saw on my Instagram & other social media when it comes to“fanart“ was more traditional.

Though I am not a part of it, I’ve gotten the impression that over the last few years the roleplaying game community has only gotten stronger from what it was in the 90s/aughts. Seems to be more broadly popular than it was back then. Same goes for indie video game devlpmt. But maybe you’re right.

I agree with the heart of your premise, the commodification of “content“ is probably part of what’s driving everyone to sex up even there Pikachu and Powerpuff Girls fanart.

But I’m a little surprised to hear you say that pretty much every other creative community has died off.

Back in the 90s when I first discovered online fan art communities, the sexual stuff was always a niche, but most of the content was more about emulating the draftsmanship of the professional artists. I see a lot less of that these days and much more OC offshoots. Which is fine I guess…

As someone who loves 2D animation & cartooning, but would like to see more non-sexual content, it’s kind of disappointing that more “vanilla” cartoon stuff just doesn’t have the traction or support that content infused w/ sexuality does. I feel like this all kind of started with Tumblr communities.

I’m not a fan of any organized religion, and both Christianity and Islam carry with them a duty to evangelize to the rest of the Earth and to try to convert unbelievers. As an atheist, that’s a real problem for me.

Every single Flintstones fan I’ve talked to over the last 40 years agrees that Betty Rubble is a serious hottie. It’s like, not even a debate.

In other fandoms, people argue whether Betty or Veronica, or Velma or Daphne is hotter. Nobody even comes to bat for Wilma. I think it’s the hair.
