Every time the union strikes people and businesses find alternatives, whether it is using courier services or moving bills on-line, and they don't come back. That is why business has dropped so much in the past few years and it will not return.

I am guessing that talks will go on sporadically for the next two years or so, while the corp restructures and the union complains about every move made to fix anything. It is only a matter of time before they walk out again. I would not mail anything under these circumstances.

I think the vast majority of the public could care less about Canada Post. Decades of endless strikes and rotten service means most people have found better ways of moving stuff around.

That probably accounts for at least some of the losses incurred. Delivering unwanted flyers is the only part of the corp's business that seem to make any money.

I hate that my municipality's paper recycling program is basically subsidizing CP's broken business model.
