I saw this when it came out, one the most remarkable bits of theatre I've seen. I consider myself a pretty regular theatre luvvie too, but this was incredible, half the audience where crouching below their seats at times...and bones did crunch

I don't think it's definitive, I know folk who dont think beans belong on full Eng, but I've never had one without. On RN shore bases I recall seeing kidneys served at breakfast.

This is where the 'Americans don't do irony'* comes from isn't it?

*They do

I've not read this piece yet. But recall feeling uncomfortable ar the time as she seemed to be being hauled around d as a trophy. Private Eye spoofed her story with a page saying Melala goes on Strictly....

'If you try to make all foreigners who own property in the uk liable to a uk wealth tax, that would be quite controversial and no doubt we could expect some retaliation.'

So what! The UK sitting as a tax haven land bank for foreigh based billionaires is also controversial. So is the status quo.

Thames Water has been a huge success, come on. British Gas has kept energy affordable, as has the multitude of electrical suppliers...

Chris Morris did this 30 odd years ago

There is no plan to abolish renting of property.
That's why it's important to look at the detail. Take much of the private housing in the UK, 45 years ago lot of that was state built and owned, lived in by all social classes. Then sold off for a song. That's where your housing crisis came from.

Why? He's been promoting the abolish landlords policy. It makes as much sense as this one.

Living in a world where 'hello Nanny' isn't a greeting to your parent's parents, but their staff.

Good lord, thought that was photoshop...I did apologise for being a po-faced twat earlier Stu. Something similar to the OP happened in this town last year with barely a murmer. Yet when a person riding a bike was seen NOT using the new cycle/ped track we had 70 angry messages on the town FB page.

loss of development opportunity, and councils mostly want minimum if it means A - losing capacity for motor travel or B - adding cost to a project that could be delivered for a lot less without sustainable options
garyinscotland.bsky.social
All of it. Worked in sustainable and active travel for 12 years. Anything delivered as I and colleagues wanted it delivered either stayed as a report on a shelf or was watered down by officers / developers so as to be irrelevant in most cases. Developers want minimum sustainability if that means -

I saw an old bloke doing The Black Rock Race with no shoes one year Oscar. There was a young alternative mum here for a while doing her shopping in bare feet, it does seem pretty hardcore I agree.

You realise you are quoting Peter Hitchens don't you, why would anyone do that?

A serious walker then, those poles are class.

2/2 which led to a pro-Royal panel member (who considered himself a bit of an anarchist) saying 'we're not Ireland, we're England!' Which didn't go down at all well as the debate was being held in Scotland.

I love this. Last week got involved in a public discussion on Royalty which led into an elected HoS. As usual the tropes of 'President Thatcher, President Blair or now even President Starmer' were rolled out. My response was 'the Irish have done pretty well in recent years' 1/2

She might pinch your ball or hop on your bike, but she’ll also speak out when required.
There has never been a more important time to elect a President who will be independent of Government.
