Armageddon for many disabled Americans and their families who have zero resources to replace SNAP (or SSI and Medicaid waiver funded service and supports.) As this safety net unravels, you’re quite correct that lives implode. It’s not hyperbole to say that Trump Admin policies come with a body count
Developer shockingly and illegally razes newly acquired property. Unsurprising. Who knows what his true intentions are other than maximize grift. The “renderings” and “costs” are garbage.
He kneecapped Howard Dean’s smart 50 state strategy so…nope.
I prefer using the full term, “blitzkrieg”, rather than the Administration’s normalizing football language.

Japanese pundits coined the term "Galapagos syndrome" to express how their country lost its role as global consumer electronics innovator. But in a world driven mad by tech disruption, is Japan’s having fallen behind turning into a secret super power?

I'm not sure you can get more marie antoinette than taking away food stamps before thanksgiving while you build a gold and marble dance hall so the other crooks can bring bribe you over a badly-cooked (argentinian) steak

Premiums for employer-provided health insurance spiked by more than double the rate of inflation this year, driving the cost of a family plan to almost $27,000. Prescription drugs and chronic diseases are contributing to the higher price.

Yes, smells performative (for an audience of one.)
The looting of the nation’s public wealth and diversion into favored private hands is well underway. It’ll take many forms: bogus settlements, no bid contracts, shady development agreements, sweetheart tax abatements, private grants, etc all. They got rid of the oversight infrastructure first.

Donald Trump's effort to deploy troops in American cities is not normal.

There is no rational justification for such a deployment.

It is a breach of the most fundamental values and customs that our armed forces operate on.
…and is not much more than a tax strategy.
Amazing. *This* work by Kara Walker (and exhibition) is an artistic statement of the highest order. When I saw the image, the first thought that popped into my head was “Guernica”. Thank you @artcrimeprof.bsky.social

As an online MAGA discussion continues, the probability of a laudatory reference or comparison to Hitler or to Nazis all-too-briskly approaches 1.
Yes. Humility at the donor and board level is a good path forward, along with moderating the rigid, business world metrics often demanded by many funders and grant making orgs. Positive impacts of philanthropy can be very difficult to measure and may take a generation+ to reveal themselves.

The people around Donald Trump are taking advantage of his diminished capacity to break the law.

Whatever they do now, we won’t forget — and we will hold them accountable.
Is this a pitch to make more teenagers pregnant again? If so, creating an undereducated low wage factory workforce seems the policy goal here.
And stuff like naming their invasion of Chicago “Operation Midway Blitz(krieg)”
I question their common sense (and survival instinct), especially those who think disabling 2 of their senses by bring glued to handheld entertainment while ascending and descending! stairs is a reasonable behavior.
To some, “Operation Midway Blitz” may seem like an innocent reference to an American football defensive play. To many others, the word “blitz”, short for “blitzkreig” (ger. lightning war), is a clear reference to a tactic made famous by…Nazi Germany. Who chose and (and presumably) vetted it?
Below the fold: “The governor will be donating the money to charity, according to his campaign.

The governor apparently also likes to play poker, according to his campaign, and founded a charity poker tournament.”

ICE agents surrounded, seized, and zip-tied a U.S. citizen who had just finished working a double shift because she didn’t “look” American to them.

She had her U.S. passport on her when she was detained, yet she was interrogated for an hour. trib.al/hDC7Vgv
