I know I almost find it a bit disgusting, and like so much else it could be an interesting point of tension to explore but no, also just the sort of hack way it’s written with the romance an oh, I wonder which of the children will die, hopefully not the one with almost zero character development

Honestly I find the depiction of the family dynamic in the sequel so uncritically regressive it’s almost offensive, if I’d been 10 when Avatar came out it would have ruled my life, but I wasn’t so it didn’t, but the Way of Water is truly dreary

Avatar is like a prototype AI film, not really in the way it takes wholesale from other things but in the way that it misunderstands them, the way that it’s less than the sum of it parts, The World for World asks ‘how is culture changed by violence’ and Avatar replies ‘guns fucking rip ass man’

Trying to understand what I meant by this, I think I mean that unless you had access to an orchestra for most of history if you wanted to hear a song or tune, you or someone in the same room as you would have to play it, and if you wanted to hear it again, you’d have to play it again
