The terms are relatively new, the concept is ancient.
In early Ireland energy of wild places (Brí) and energy of Human places (Bua) are the basis of magical energy. Narural energy, expressed in Draíocht Ceoil as sound - "the note of a place"

We've always actually dramatised and consumed murder as both a taboo and as entertainment equally, from earliest times. Early portry, Early medieval Irish literature, Chaucer, Half the themes in Shakespeare. We can thank the victorians for detective fiction but it's always been Love & Death

#halloween little treasure from the past. An old very battered remnant of a book my dad kept close, a #dream interpretation manual.
It came from his own dad but almost certainly belonged to either his mother or granny.
And people wonder why I'm the way I am :)

Irish newspaper articles from 1850s on, we get remnants of verse, charms, used at Halloween.

Last census, we were asked to write a "time capsule". mine is a poem based on the Irish
'Ar scáth a chéile a mhaireann na daoine.'
People live in the shadows of each other;
we are all in this together but also, we can choose to make it better or worse for each other.

This is your annual reminder that if teens come trick or treating this weekend, they could be doing way worse things. Let them have one more year being a child, another year at feeling the magic, let them be care free and have fun, compliment their costume, and give them some damn candy.
