If we pay privately, the gov't will not reimburse us when the strike is over and the co-pay is assessed.

So does she wear painful old orthotics in the meantime?

While I support striking workers, the @davidebybc.bsky.social BC NDP gov't is once again leaving the most vulnerable to suffer.
geronursing.bsky.social
Took my dtr to get new foot orthotics started today. $6000. You must be joking. The prices disabled people are forced to pay for equipment are ridiculous.

Also, because gov't workers are on strike the request for co-pay won't be assessed for a long, long time (usually min of 45 business days).

If I didn't already have two shows tied for #1 this year (Andor, The Pitt), Task would be right there in #1. It took a couple of episodes to be completely sucked in but I am right there now to find out how this ride ends.

You would think that you wouldn't go back to screening until you achieved this level. I find it perplexing and obviously anxiety producing. I'm going to try to figure out if this is a BC Cancer thing or specific to the diagnostic place I go to. I'm also taking up a screening spot.

Make it make sense. I have lumps in my breast. I go for a screening mammogram, then get sent to diagnostic + ultrasound. Those tests come back 'presumed benign.' I get kicked back to screening and start the merry-go-round all over again. Why get kicked back to screening each year?

I've decided that next time a reviewer critiques how I use Interpretive Description in a study I'm going to send Sally Thorne an email to get her take and then include that in my response to reviews. #QualitativeResearch

I was asked to be on a panel at a conference. I said I would be happy to but would need to join remotely. The lead panelist checked with the conference organizers and they said they cannot accommodate remote presenters.

Such a shame that in 2025 technology does not exist for remote participation /s

Went for my mammogram today and the clerk checking me in whispered "we have the same birthday." Always a good omen.

It's great to equip patients with info but it doesn't mean that we will be listened too. My dtr is intellectually disabled & this group receives notoriously poor gyne care (if any at all). She is not a candidate for an IUD. How do we convince clinicians this is not a normal period?

This is great information. How do we convince our doctors to do something about it? My daughter had her period for almost a year continuously, became severely anemic, and I was constantly advocating for her. What words should I be using to get things moving (the issue is now thankfully resolved)?

Me too. Huge disappointment. At least the next book in the series will come out sooner than later.

Thursday Murder Club movie proves once again that the book(s) are always better than the movie/TV show. Some poor casting choices and whoever styled the Joyce character clearly hadn't read/listened to the audiobook. And Ibrahim is demoted to a caricature not a character. Screenplay writing abysmal.

It probably does but I don’t use a citation manager.

I am now going to spend time changing the references in a paper to a different format so the journal will accept my paper even though they do have copy editors and for a 5K USD open access fee they could bloody well do this themselves.

But no.

Another win for billion dollar publishers.

I am a person who is pretty good at being alone. But over the past year there have been times where I felt lonely, which is an unusual feeling for me. So both the movie and the bump-into were good reminders to myself that it's nice to feel part of a group sometimes too.
