Unbearably violent images from Downtown Chicago where a classical music concert was played on the Chicago River. This is too elegant and magical to be seen.

They rig maps & silence voters.

They rip away freedoms we fought and bled for.

They try to silence voices on national TV.

This is dictatorship in action.

On October 18, we rise to remind the world: America has #NoKings

Love that Chicago is getting in on the Portland humor bandwagon! Hard to say it’s a warzone when this is happening!

Ryan should be 57 today.

He was a brave, strong man with a gentle nature and a "smile in his voice."

While a killer roamed his office hallways with gun & silencer, Ryan helped others find shelter.

Chris should be 37 today.

A witty and compassionate "Karaoke King," and Navy veteran, he served 4 tours in Afghanistan but died in a mass shooting on American soil.

Heroic and brave, he helped others to safety before he was struck by gunfire.

Jamero should be 6 today.
He had a beautiful voice and a big, bright smile.
He was shot and killed at 4 by a 6-year-old who found a loaded, unsecured gun while playing.

Officer Beesley would be 56 today.
He was brave, kind, generous, and good.
Given the chance, he would have helped his killer…a disturbed loner intent on killing police officers.
His killer was armed with an AR15 and radicalized by online videos.

This is not a border crossing.
There’s no law that any of us have to show our papers on the interior.

This is a blatant civil rights violation. How is anyone supposed to know whether this man is a real ICE agent or just pretending to be one?!

Patricia should be 41.
She was kind, loving, genuine, & full of joy & life.
She left a prestigious job to obtain her PhD &to mentor students.

Patricia and 2 other UNLV professors were killed on campus by a man who should not have had access to a gun.

#AlexAlott was charged with allegedly assaulting a federal officer with an umbrella. Yesterday, she was exonerated because VIDEO disproved the accusation. But Daniel, who attended the trial to support her, was detained the same day that the trial finished.

THIS IS FASCISM. FILM EVERYTHING.

This week in 1988: 1,000+ ACT UP demonstrators shut down the FDA headquarters, demanding (and eventually winning) action on developing HIV/AIDS treatments. ACT UP's militant and creative actions always included powerful visual artwork, and paved the way for movements in the decades to come.
A photograph from the 1988 ACT UP demonstration outside the FDA. Many people are participating in a die-in on the front steps, holding mock tombstones with messages like "RIP - killed by the FDA" and "Dead from lack of drugs." A line of police officers (some with classic 80s mustaches) wearing riot helmets stands between them and the building; one cop wearing white gloves is walking through the demonstrators. Affixed to the 2nd story windows of the building is a series of posters and a large blank banner reading Silence = Death.
