Good point. I am only talking about fretless electric bass. I have a feeling my issue is limited to a specific brand of electric that was everywhere in 90s jazz fusion and singer-songwriter type music releases. Some of the players are really good on fretted bass! Fernando Saunders comes to mind.

Sound is ridiculousy subjective of course. Fretless bass is the sonic equivalent of cilantro. (Which I do like, actually)

I have an aversion to the sound of fretless bass. But I love the sound Percy Jones gets. It's more defined and less of that whiny buzz. Basically all other fretless bass I've heard sounds terrible to me.

At my local bar and a Stephen Merrit song comes on. I don't hear his lovely voice often these days- immediately gave me deja vu. My band, Glorified Magnified, did a remix for him in the 90s.

4-6 year olds are the most inspiring creatures. Full of courage, imagination, seeing every human as potential best friend, loyal to all... Then there are those with difficult environments or physical/chemical hurdles. It's so unfair that such small creatures have to endure such hardships. #freegaza
