I made some changes to the horse, and gave some attention to combat again.

Certainly take your time, and try to find ways to make learning fun for yourself.
I felt most engaged when I was exploring things I felt deeply passionate for.
If you're meaning to get into 3D game development, be ready for a lot of math!

Made a few changes to combat to feel a little more responsive and tense.

Archery on horseback is somewhat done, needs some extra time in the oven but it works!

game dev blooper, he looks like a minecraft mob.

Crazy how adding little animations like these just add so much more life to your game baby. What I'd give for a fuzzy friend about now...

Performance improvements and a handful of minor fixes.

I managed to get 60 FPS on a little $100 mini PC that doesn't even have a dedicated graphics card on it, how neat is that?

It might help to evaluate what needs to be threaded for the most performance gains before putting things on separate threads. The main-thread is easiest to iterate on - save threading for when you know it'll help!
glossydon.bsky.social
Multi-threading is really hard, but it's also rewarding when you've exhausted all possible optimization tricks for a single thread.

Doing things with pure data and deferring any main-thread stuff is not so bad. Just be sure you're working in the right memory space when on a separate thread!

I made a video about oldschool drop shadows, and my stab at recreating their charm in #Godot.

I'm aware, though it wouldn't hurt to expand my repertoire by experimenting nonetheless. Right now I'm not in a position to commit myself to artistic things, or new features of my own creation. Practice makes perfect!

The irresistible urge to optimize, Argh!!!

I am enjoying the process of prototyping things for the game, but man life can kind of stink sometimes. When you reasonably can, find what brings you joy and replenish!

Terrain and ambient areas, oh my! Give my 3D game baby a looksie on its page!

Admittedly, I did patch the baking process together from other pieces of code found in the addon.

Either-or, I didn't see anything like this in the community server. I'm debating whether or not to make the code cleaner and sharing it, or keeping it secret like Wizard Ale.

Probably not secret.

I mentioned a baking system for Terrain3D, an addon created by Tokisan Games. The addon is really smart, but navigation is also tricky.

Because the terrain is segmented into chunks, and those chunks have a coordinate system of their own, I made navigation kernel baking a thing.

I'm a little ways out from making another build, but I can still show with a little video!

Sorry to miss the mark by a few days, I've just been so busy with other things that I couldn't make time for the project as much as I would have preferred.

Either way, new build!

I made some minor tune-ups for dodging, blocking and parrying. I might push for a new build in a few days. Might be rude to ask, but do follow so you don't miss out if you're interested in trying it out!

I'm happy with the new UI, it looks very clean.

If I may suggest a video reference for Rigify, it'd be Tudor's.
A good follow-up would be Tudor's explanation of a jointly designed blender addon, Game Rig Tools.

It's kinda neat, seeing him wheel the sword around from time to time.
