My favorite dip for French fries is good tartar sauce. Like you, I rarely use ketchup. Maybe I had too much as a kid.

It’s pretty simple — I did it myself in an afternoon (just a dry fit). There are small river rocks in the bottom that look good all year, and also drain well when you do something like this.

I didn’t want to change the date (especially to move it up!) — but the weather decided it for me. Fortunately, it worked out for the best. We’ve got cold rain and wind right now.

Do you remember how you were the one who reminded me (back in our Post days) about the glory of crock pots? I’d gone for years without using one, and thanks to you, they’re now a faithful companion for things like this. 🧡

Thank you! I must admit it feels good to be on the other side of it, with most the cleanup done. I loved seeing folks together after a long summer of us all going our own ways.

I caught her shamelessly begging, and had to scoop her up and take her to the kitchen for her dinner in the middle of it all. That belly has a timer on it, I swear.

Hah! No — my kitchen, back porch and mudroom were a wreck. I didn’t want to discourage folks from entertaining by recording the aftermath. Anyway, it was mostly cleaned up by 3:00 pm the next day. Several neighbors came over to help, thankfully.
