Being that it came out in 1971, this marks I think the first time I’ve notived a Star Wars blaster sound in a movie that came out before Star Wars.

After playing a decent amount of Total Annihilation I’m guessing graphical improvements weren’t the only reason they made the maps bigger/units smaller in Supreme Commander.

It is very easy for your chonky little dudes to get stuck in TA.
Screenshot of Total Annihilation from the GOG store page. Each unit is about 1/20 the width of the screen.

And yet they can’t watch horror movies.

They explicitly weren’t “artificial” intelligence since they evolved naturally. They’re more like software-based life forms.

The problem with Tron sequels os that people want to see Tron as a scifi movie like The Matrix instead of being Inside Out but for computers.

The only AI in Tron is the MCP.

Like, that scene in the second episode with the butchered party guests really feels corny, like they had the specific artbook image of “18th century nobility sitting at a dining table with their faces and guts torn open” and contrived a way for it to happen.

I think Alien: Earth also has the same problem as Alien 3, where it wants a gory spectacle and so kind of removes the mystery from the Alien’s menace.

I kinda feel the same about Alien Earth as I do about Star Trek Discovery: it doesn’t add anything to the franchise by being a prequel, it could have just as easily been a sequel or an alternate universe.

The best part is that kids' content was always keen on showing horror. I think it was Sir Pratchett who said that it is the parents who balk at the idea, while the kids crave this darkness, those scares, because it is a safe way for them to tackle such emotions.

In the 80s-90s somebody at DARPA actually proposed a “modern battleship.”

They called it an Arsenal Ship, and it would have giant missiles like a Kirov-class heavy cruiser both because any cannon that could outrange them would be too big to be practical and because they wanted it to be stealth.
Painting of a large ship with a faceted hull like a stealth fighter, firing a ballistic missile while crashing through a big wave.

Sorry for any confusion but let’s make it clear, we are releasing GARO in the future and we are actually starting with Kiba, Taiga, Red Requiem, Wailing Dragon and Under the Moon.
Actually just starting to figure out the configuration, extras and the like so no clue yet.

The thing about this that's worth recalling is that it *wouldn't* even offend most Americans: just the group of reactionary grifters who make money by being professionally offended online.
