part 2 As to physical accessibility I use the Scope data this survey in this story www.independent.co.uk/travel/news-... an example of accessibility anxiety ((worry that something is not accessible) a part of disablism anxiety which stops people even trying to go

part 1
....and of course accessibility goes beyond physical. And not sure AI will be any help. Having a few more meetings where we are present does not change the vast problem with the data out there. And even if the data would be good its of course often ignored in building codes.

wolbring.bsky.social
And to be clear every one has accessibility needs. The ability privileged just take them for granted. We have a washroom as part of the building code as the human physiology needs something and public health demands we humans access washrooms.

Besides the differences in life expectancy, the analysis also revealed ADHD to be linked with a higher risk of mental health issues — such as anxiety, depression, self-harm, suicide and personality disorders.

But why ? Due to how they are treated by society?

Well, the White House has taken down its web accessibility statement www.whitehouse.gov/accessibility/
And then they say "Every single day I will be fighting for you .... ." www.whitehouse.gov
My comment: We are obviously not the "you".

Heartbreaking this culture of neglect. www.latimes.com/california/s...
like my 2009 paper "A culture of neglect: Climate discourse and disabled people "https://journal.media-culture.org.au/index.php/mcjournal/article/view/173 Hurricane Katrina quote on wheelchair user drowning (not evacuated)
Altadena family says disabled father and son were left to burn: 'Nobody was coming'
Anthony Mitchell Sr., an amputee who used a wheelchair, and his son Justin, who had cerebral palsy, died due to slow evacuation efforts during the Altadena fire, relatives said Friday.

Your kids are sick all the time because public health leaders chose to let it happen.

There are details, and there are more in-depth explanations, but in the end that's what it boils down to. They listened to their egos instead of experts, and made bad choices.

They won't be happy until we're all dead.

During the first years of covid, the Scottish government had terps at every press conference, while Deaf people had to beg for them from the UK government, and it rarely worked. People with hearing impairments were four times more likely to die.
Miranda Devine

@mirandadevine.

I actually think that's the point of them. It's to reinforce our powerlessness.

I'm sorry, but we have to stop with the ridiculous sign language interpreters, who turn serious press conferences into a farce. There are closed captions on all broadcast channels and streaming services. No wild human gesticulators necessary. x.com/EndWokeness/st...

fits with that many conferences and meetings on accessibility do not offer online options :-(

wolbring.bsky.social
Accessibility issues ranging from attitudinal to physical to online to technological to ... hinder so many efforts by disabled activists see for example abcnews.go.com/US/climate-a... which adds to disabled activist burnout something under researched doi.org/10.3390/soc1...
Climate activists with disabilities fight for inclusion
Already facing disproportionately adverse effects due to climate change, people with disabilities are often further marginalized trying to get involved in activism.
