A MAGA fan has purchased Dominion Voting. Can the USA trust they won't take advantage of this conflict of interest?

Unreal. Our fresh water is FAR more valuable than fossil fuels. To be allowed to use it and destroy it FOR fossil fuels is an utter fail.
tzeporah.bsky.social
In 2024 the oil and gas industry paid BC taxpayers $20,000 for fresh water. They used and poisoned 9 Billion litres of fresh water. Fracking companies should not be allowed to do this. If you want to call in the government to stop letting them you can here act.stand.earth/page/89100/a...
Fracking is draining B.C.’s freshwater: Act now before it’s too late
Despite B.C.’s Peace River Region facing an ongoing severe drought, last year oil & gas companies set a new record high for freshwater extraction, with an alarming 50% increase over the year before. J...

Carry a mug! Water bottle too!! Preferably not plastic!
grudgingcloud.bsky.social
& those cups & plastic film liners are a massive problem as that thin lining creates pervasive microplastic issues that we then are faced with everywhere on planet! Film plastic is worst pervasive plastic but also the cups defy sorting & reuse/compost because of plastic lining -thus more landfill.
grudgingcloud.bsky.social
By now many but not all have got the memo that if they carry a coffee cup it should be metal/glass/ceramic not plastic. And one SHOULD carry one b/c those disposable cups that *seem* biodegradable are lined with plastic that reacts to hot beverages like a plastic tea bag.

And on clothing side opting for and digging around for natural fibres is huge. I remember when we shunned polyester -but fast fashion seems to have brought it back gradually and hoodwinked the average consumer to fully accept it. Despite fact it holds odours & doesn’t insulate well nor breathe!

Yes Ikea is imperfect & you should repurpose & reuse your old plastic for other things but their containers are affordable & sport interchangeable lids. For oven/fridge/carry use they also have metal which is lighter to carry places but same snap on lids that are very secure & durable.
grudgingcloud.bsky.social
Eliminating many of our plastic exposures & contribution “trespasses” is less difficult than many think. Start by storing leftovers in a bowl with a plate on top. Failing that reuse glass jars for nearly everything. If they are wrong size/shape also invest in glass containers like IKEA’s 365+ range.

More on microplastics:

They're "released from exposure to heat," like when you pour coffee into a foam cup, brew a cuppa in a tea bag that has microplastics, & wash polyester fabric on high heat.

So "keeping your plastic away from heat is a low-hanging...

Microplastics are everywhere. You can do one simple thing to avoid them.
The biggest sources of microplastics have one thing in common: Heat.

Haven’t purchased plastic wrap 3+ decades & swapped out plastic tupperware 2 decades ago. Food always more appealing in glass too but it’s also is easier to clean! Trying to get red sauce or ANYTHING with any oil out of plastic is very difficult!! We also need refillable soft drinks again in glass!
grudgingcloud.bsky.social
And of course one of the most under-utilized choices for leftovers is a bowl with a plate on top! Plastic wraps are the absolute worst choice. I have 3 places in my kitchen to store glass containers which are infinitely useful & often just reused jars apart from very handy rectangular ikea options!
grudgingcloud.bsky.social
Ikea has fantastic & interchangeable options for this in glass & metal. Can’t seem to get away from plastic lids but heating portions plastic free at least & cuts plastic use. Old tupperware can be reused for either dry goods or to store other things til we figure out way to deal with old plastic

We need to follow science in ALL of these fields. So while I’m stubborn optimist & applaud all these plans I am concerned that at many points humans will lean not to truth but to the most palatable message which allows power to thrive making things demonstrably worse. We HAVE &ignore C19 solutions.
grudgingcloud.bsky.social
& isame playbook. With climate crisis there was time to slowly erode & distract people-with C19 it came quick & people initially rallied-but when extinguishing took more work than wanted they returned to old denial tactics long practiced for climate&tobacco. Even climate scientists are fooled re C19
grudgingcloud.bsky.social
though covid mis/disinfo STILL rampant so comparing doesn’t comfort this still taking precaution based on actual science human. Like climate crisis, realities & long term harms of c19 on ANYone is another unrecognized inconvenient truth. Praise this effort but beg recognition of this other science.

Ridiculous assertion. Like family, Canadian blood is thicker than water coast to coast to coast to border with peach menace country. Have more in common across the country than by distance with USn neighbours-weather aside. And have you any idea how many in BC are ‘transplants’ from Ontario? So no.

Walking down the streetin my visibly mended jeans and visibly mended poncho I came upon a BEAUTIFUL visibly Mended bit of sidewalk in Montreal.
A faded wide bottom mended jean pant leg is seen from the wearer’s height and in the frame below a piece of grey sidewalk in which a crack has been mended with vividly colourful ceramic tiles.

Vaccines are safe and effective.

Autism isn't caused by vaccines, and autistic people and their families deserve our support.

When you want information, ask your doctor.

It's more important than ever for all of us to speak plainly, truthfully, and directly about public health.

So thanks to COVID being uncontrolled and still spreading and re-re-re- infecting people, we see a very large number of workers off sick or simply dropping out of the workforce.
COVID is bad for all workers.
Don’t get COVID.
Get vaccinated.
Wear an N95 respirator.
Clean the air we all breathe.
