When it comes to climate change, methane is a notorious super-polluter.

And LNG, which stands for liquefied "natural gas", is primarily made up of...you guessed it...methane. 😷
Can methane cuts pull us back from the brink of climate breakdown?
With temperatures breaching the Paris limit, experts say tackling the powerful gas could buy crucial time as the clean-energy shift stalls

“Canada has been masking fossil expansion behind the language of climate leadership.”

Leaving #COP30 one thing is clear, Canada must reject the thrall of the fossil fuel era or risk becoming a fossil ourselves.

Fossil fuels have gone unmentioned in another #COP agreement. A concrete phase out plan is an existential for many nations. Not a road map but a survival map.

That is what is at stake at this conference and what’s possible with a coalition of the willing

Colombia seeks to speed up a “just” fossil fuel phase-out with first global conference
The summit, co-hosted with the Netherlands, aims to help countries work out a fair path to stop using planet-heating oil, gas and coal - a sticking point at the COP30 talks in Brazil

What a day!!! An electrifying and historic moment at #COP30

This is the culmination of the movement's work around the world: standing up to fossil fuel projects in your homes, marching in the street, and building a coalition of the willing to stand up for science, justice and life.
🚨 BIG NEWS from #COP30:🇨🇴Colombia and 🇳🇱the Netherlands will co-host the 1st International Conference on the Just Transition Away from Fossil Fuels in Santa Marta, Colombia – April 28–29, 2026.

Report-out from #COP30 in Brazil from one of our finest climate thought leaders @tzeporah.bsky.social

(So depressing and so wrong and so intractable. And I saw and heard the same at the WHO conference on air pollution in Colombia last March.)

Also, read her whole thread of which is one post.
🤥 The myth that gas is a transition fuel is alive and well despite all the evidence to the contrary and a shocking number of people here think phasing out coal means the are on the right side of the fossil fuel phase out even if they are building new LNG and gas infrastructure.

All the VSPs decided that we can't talk about climate any more, and the entire climate establishment pathetically acceded, nonetheless: climate change is still very real! And Trump is going to rack up Holocaust-style numbers with his anti-climate policies.
Trump’s Anti-Green Agenda Could Lead to 1.3 Million More Climate Deaths. The Poorest Countries Will Be Impacted Most.
Most of the people expected to suffer these temperature-related deaths live in poor countries in Africa and South Asia that are least prepared to cope with the increasing heat from climate change.

At the #COP30 Leaders Summit plenary, President Lula called for “a road map for humanity to overcome, in a just and planned way, its dependence on fossil fuels.”

President Lula is right but pledges, speeches, statements and declarations are not a road map.

No Kumi you didn’t embarrass us or yourself. You acted with courage, with heart, with passion and for once decision makers saw in these halls a plea COMMENSURATE WITH THE SCALE OF THE CRISIS.

It was absolutely epic and I am so proud to have the honour of working with @kuminaidoo.bsky.social
Yesterday @fossiltreaty.bsky.social President Kumi Naidoo rushed into his 5th speaking engagement of the day at #cop30 looking uncharacteristically upset. “Tzeporah,” he said “I lost it. I don’t even remember what I said. I am so sorry. I got emotional.”
