Nope. Partisan politics has no connection to the public's desire to protect the Great Lakes - ask any MPP in the region.
adamscott.bsky.social
No. Ontario residents will NEVER accept oil tankers on the Great Lakes. It's an exceptionally stupid idea that will never see the light of day.
adamscott.bsky.social
Not a snowball's chance in hell we would ever let this happen. #abpoli #onpoli Danielle Smith says she's "trying to figure out if we could get #oil to Thunder Bay & use #GreatLakes maximum tankers to get to a port in Quebec and loaded for overseas" #cdnpoli www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/artic...

The oil & gas industry's position is the literal definition of 'bad faith'. There's no bargain, grand or otherwise, in sight. Industry and its captured politicians aim to scrap all federal climate policy. Carney must dramatically increase regulatory integrity/ambition & impose the federal backstop.

viewing isn't the issue.

I could have sworn the U.S. had a constitution with amendments preventing this, dating back to the late 1700's... I guess I'm mistaken.

Canada's #climate obligations are legally binding, enshrined in Canadian domestic law - the Canadian Net-Zero Emissions Accountability Act - passed in 2021.

It's not possible for these projects to align with these obligations.

@aaronwherry.bsky.social analysis on this file is characteristically on-point. As someone who's been involved in Canada's pipeline politics for 20 years, it's obvious this project will never get built. @mark-carney.bsky.social and other leaders should avoid such an obvious political trap.

Meanwhile, Enbridge’s CEO just called again (during a speech in Toronto) for industrial pricing to end, which is another reminder that the oil and gas industry is not serious about carbon capture, and Carney will need to play hardball if he is.

I'm baffled as to why @cnn.com 's Kevin Liptak parsed & edited Trump's incoherent ramblings to make them seem like an intentional speech. Trump delivered an incomprehensible off the cuff word salad. The content was nonsense. The context: utter incompetence. #unga edition.cnn.com/2025/09/23/p...

No more talk about fake 'grand bargains'. No more backtracking or messing with targets and baselines.

This is a gloves off moment. The government's #climate credibility requires implementing, strengthening and enforcing policy immediately. @juliedabrusin.bsky.social #cdnpoli #cadpoli #HOC

@mark-carney.bsky.social government has scrapped the consumer carbon price, delayed the ZEV mandate, allowed the Canada Greener Homes Loan program to expire - while failing to finalize the Methane regulations, failing to enforce provincial equivalency, and plotting an end to oil & gas emissions cap.

This all correct - except for solar being 'of little interest to investors'. We see massive investment in solar globally with healthy profits. Global solar PV investment rose to $386 billion this year, up 10% since the start of 2025.

Industry influence in politics is the key factor C5 projects.

I think the US just witnessed that moment where suddenly the water comes up over the gunwales.

Major networks pulling shows that are critical of the administration is a point that's hard to recover from in dictatorships.

The new projects announced by @mark-carney.bsky.social show that Canada is foolishly doubling down on its petrostate status. THREAD
adamscott.bsky.social
Yes. LNG Canada 2 already had federal approval. The project only lacks a final investment decision (FID) from the consortium because lenders/ investors are rightly wary project economics. Is @mark-carney.bsky.social about to give private companies billions in new, public #fossilfuel subsidies?
aradwanski.bsky.social
Worth noting that regulatory approval isn't a major obstacle for LNG Canada 2, which is awaiting final investment decision. A reminder that major projects office seems meant to help projects in multiple ways, not just fast-tracking environmental assessments. www.theglobeandmail.com/politics/art...
