This is six nuclear power plants of solar energy, which would have been cheap, and ready in almost no time--and now we can't have it because of the Trump administration's crusade against clean energy.
You'd think they were vampires, scared of the sun (Hi Stephen Miller)

SCOOP: The Bureau of Land Management says the largest solar project in Nevada — the Esmeralda 7 mega-farm — has been canceled

The news was quietly dropped via a sudden website update with no public word from any of the companies involved or a statement from the agency

Esmeralda 7 Solar Project Has Been Canceled, BLM Says
It would have delivered a gargantuan 6.2 gigawatts of power.

America is in crisis.

So it's a small relief that the rest of the world is actually getting remarkable stuff done with energy. We just passed a huge milestone globally!

Now back to work on America.

Why are prominent Democratic politicians, celebrities, etc hosting a tour of Portland? When he says stupid stuff, we have to actively demonstrate that he is a fool, instead of just assuming everyone knows

Trump: "I don't know what could be worse than Portland. You don't even have stores anymore. They don't even put glass up. They put plywood on their windows."

"The sun delivers its energy for free & that's why solar is exciting in a political sense...think about how the geopolitics of Earth would have been over the past 100 yrs if oil had been of trivial value." - @billmckibben.bsky.social 💛☀️ #solar #listen:

It's not all positive (this IS 2025), but there's a tremendous amount of good news and useful information in @billmckibben.bsky.social's latest post.

Great @billmckibben.bsky.social piece on the natsec benefits of solar. This is exactly what @councilonstrategicrisks.org has found in our Renewable Energy is National Security project -- countries that invest in clean energy are more resilient in today's competitive geopolitical environment.
It's hard to drone a solar panel
The war in Ukraine may be adding resilience to the list of clean energy's virtues

Just noting that this reporting is from the correspondent for that radical rag...The Economist

I visited the apartment building ICE raided on Tuesday today. Story to come, but you can walk right in. Half of the apartments have no doors on them. Children's stuff abandoned in some flats. *Citizen* residents told me they were arrested and held for hours in zipties. This is America

Is that because of the close association between pirates and poultry?

There literally *is* a sentence about it, and a link to the latest article describing the crisis in Zaporizhzhia. It wasn't the main subject of my article, but of course I described it.
Reading before making such charges is recommended! (and thank you for your concern about the trouble!)

thank you. this is how it's done.

Distributed energy networks are far more secure for energy supply than centralised systems

Energy security in the widest sense.

What's not to like and why do the Right seem to like the more controlling centralised systems? Maybe they have shares in them!!

Hmm. With solar energy, the big explosions take place 93 million miles away

A fireball lit up the sky across the Los Angeles area on Thursday night after an explosion at a Chevron refinery in El Segundo, alarming nearby residents who said it felt like an earthquake. The cause of the explosion was not clear. No injuries were reported. nyti.ms/42pPCaW

We need widespread deployment of sun and wind to limit the climate crisis
But it could limit the oligarch crisis too
