And with the move back to block funding by stealth - that is, "foundational" supports and 1:3 ratio funding? With the big providers cramming ever more people in, without increasing staff nunbers?

Those created jobs will slowly disappear.

Taking all the economic benefit of the NDIS with it.

Well, yeah, I suppose it is (was?) pretty good at job creation. Individualised support requires more workers than (state/NFP run) institutions do.

The trouble is, the workers *and* the participants get exploited now, too.

As that's inevitable when opening up a basic need - care - to profiteering.

The NDIS sadly is a system for the benefit of the providers. Not the disabled people who need it.

The most vulnerable amongst us are the ones who suffer the most from the greed - and neglect - of these people, unfortunately.

As a disabled person and a disability advocate? I know this all too well.

If this had been, say, an abled child treated so negligently, so abusively?

Criminal charges. For sure.

Which just shows how little the legal system values disabled people's lives, unfortunately.

The UN said recently that paying disabled people subminimum wages is modern slavery. Because disabled people effectively have no choice in their employer.

Given that Work For The Dole is *even more* coercive, and just as underpaid?

I reckon it's a fair call to consider that slavery too.

I really should get everyone I share a family Spotify account with to use Bandcamp or other ways to pay artists for their music.

'cause Spotify effectively doesn't. And hasn't for a while now.

As desperate people will take any job they can. Which keeps pay low, and profits high.

I highly recommend having *some* presence on Mastodon, Website League, Friendica, or other "Fediverse" social media.

As corporate social media will keep forcing people to identify themselves. And ban everything that the fash don't like.

You can avoid that on the Fediverse as it's non-corporate.

Federal Labor could have just said - "Queensland Labor reviewed this a few months ago, it's fine. The evidence is clear: it helps trans kids."

By announcing their own review, they said "we agree that there's something of concern here". And a 2026 review date means no rebuttal for a year or more.

She got approved via the UN somehow? That's not how it usually works, though.

I'd highly recommend your friend try to find an employer to sponsor them for a working visa. It's the fastest way in, short of spending $50k. (IIRC.)

Because (AFAIK) no one's made a successful asylum claim like that yet.

I'm in Queensland. The LNP will likely make HRT for under 18s illegal soon. Not just banned from the public system.

Federal Labor announcing their own unnecessary review shows they're going to play this game too.

The eugenics campaign they're waging via huge NDIS cuts shows they're fash, too.

Would love to be able to take in as many trans, queer, neurodivergent, and/or disabled people as possible.

We are stronger together.

I'm part of a project trying to make something like Transtown happen in Australia. And we've got land already.

We're about to start building the equivalent of Phase 1, too.

If we can figure out how to get people here on visas, feed them, and then buy more land?

We'll take in as many as we can.

Now, Australia's far from perfect - and it's getting worse - but it's a lot better here than the UK or the US!
