Queer Trekkie Old Dude on a strange and difficult path. Erklärbär. I practice Buddhism because I'm terrible at it. Autistic as a motherf***er. I love humans, all of them, but humanity is a constant disappointment.

When all the sceptre'd crew
Have paid their Homage, due
The Guillotine
Let Freedom's flag advance
Till all the world, like France
O'er tyrants' graves shall dance
And PEACE begin.

-Joel Barlow, veteran of the Revolutionary War, 1794

A historical artifact presented sans comment.

(Not sharing the one I thought of for mine, but hint: 🪦)

Even as a Lit major for [redacted but a lot more than 4] years, I *never* had a good writing class.

Olivier said it best: "That sounds exhausting; have you tried acting?"

Two-league minimum. Rotate the seasons. 15 of the MLB teams go to the new league, and 15 of the triple-As move into each one.

Whatever will they do with a surplus from that $5 Billion WITH A "B" police budget they have?

I've occasionally expressed this before, but it bears repeating, I think: the Nobel Prize is a strictly Norwegian book-end given out by political appointees, and the fact that anyone still pays attention to it after 1973 is both confounding and asinine.

I hope you're good at maths, because I'm a Soft Sciences Boy.

I just did mine (badge redacted as I don't use my real name on here) and how does it know?
Badge from the official "Star Trek: Starfleet Academy" website, depicting the academy seal and the words Rank: CADET; SCIENCES.

Personally I think she was a monster, but I don't care enough about liberal shuck-and-jive to even know what the original post is referencing.

I also occasionally miss there being other living things around. Parallel reading, appreciating my snide remarks, &c. But there's always the yawning abyss.

This is my dance about how much transphobes suck.

Space shuttle sensors in an '84 Civic hatchback, as one therapist of mine put it.

Cannot tell you how proud of you I am, both for your choices and for sharing them. Good on you.

People are 100% *insane* with some of the things they are forcing onto a bagel.

(In the interests of full disclosure: sesame, cream cheese, thin slice of red onion)

No problem at all, seriously.

Disphits who make their whole personality being assholes about something that ceased to be relevant over a decade ago. It's like a living fossil. Like somebody got *really* into lawn darts in 1987 and just never got over it.

I usually vibe with what you're saying; we're on the Pennsyltucky Olympice Tism Team, after all.

Oh, no, I'm fully aware (*painfully* aware: gestures towards ordination). But that just confuses the issue for 99.99% of the people who aren't up on their Hebrew etymology for שָׂטָן

Bulky pocket ephemera that, ideally, smells like old leather is like 90% of the point.

They are a challenge (I say this with zero experience with them, but having read a LOT of books about them).

The Soviets famously 'took' skilled German experts in most fields as reparations. They didn't make them the head of the Soviet Space Program or supreme commander of the Warsaw Pact.

NASA and NATO had no such qualms.
