Alastor is just the only adult that knows the fuller extent of what she's doing, and he'll sometimes help her come up with ideas. It's mostly entertainment for him because he finds the stories she comes back with amusing, but he's grown fond of her over time.

She DOES have adults that she loves and cares for- she's grown up with her parents, Ozzie/Fizz/Bee, and her sisters, but she's been trying to hide this from them- particularly her parents- as she doesn't want to cause them issues by worrying about her. She thinks she can handle anything.

Stellaluna's clinginess to Alastor as her spiral starts to get worse reminds him of how Vox was near the end combined with realizing he's growing too fond of her for his comfort, so he hurts her worse by cutting her off from the one adult she was listening to, no matter how bad of an idea that was.

I struggled (and still do) with how to balance the emotional bits with the funny ones for quite a while, and I'm still not sure how well it worked out overall, but all I can do is move on and try to make the rest the best I can.

We'd seen hints of the characters having real care for each other on the instas especially, but I really cannot understate how much of a bat to the face Loo Loo Land was in terms of 'we are going to make these characters have Emotional Feelings about each other as more than as a joke to read into'.

One problem of OT is the merging 'fic' version of the characters with what we've seen of them in canon. I've said this before, but the OT versions of the characters are more like early S1 versions, so trying to straddle how they /should/ act without being too jarring is kind of a balancing act.
