She/Her. Living liver donor (non-directed), plasma donor. Skye and Dori’s fur-mom. RIP Mini, my Saint Bernard. Runs Village PR: comms for nonprofits. Lefter than left. Not related to that hateful UK "leader." Taller than you. Ottawa πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

Hello!
I post about:
- living organ donation (mostly liver because it’s a thing I did and loved, non-directed)
- my rescued dog, Skye
- Ottawa πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦
- Communications and PR for charities
- Things I cook, if they turned out exceptionally well (or badly)
- My leftie political opinion. Very, very left.

This morning, Mayor Sutcliffe held a press conference outlining the modified Lansdowne 2.0 recommendations before city councillors or the public had access to them. That’s unacceptable. Transparency and respect for Council should come before media rollouts.
A new study has found that caffeine may impair the quality of donated blood and reduce the effectiveness of transfusions. Your morning cup of coffee may impact the quality of stored blood and its effectiveness when transfused into patients.

The @mayormarksutcliffe.bsky.social and I were pleased to welcome to Council for a performance of the national anthem students from Nepean High and their teacher Jeannie Hunter. It rocked!
Reading glasses can be a lot of fun. So many great styles. Welcome to the club.

At today's Council meeting, I brought a motion forward to reverse the City Manager's five-day-a-week return-to-office order. We'll debate that in two weeks. I've heard from many City staff about the diminishment in the quality of both life and work the order will create, with too little benefit.
Right?!
We are extremely thoughtfully, and with expert guidance, helping our dog (new to us, recently adopted from a rescue) work through her trauma and trust people.
Nobody should be grabbing anything that doesn’t belong to them.
Why do people do the least helpful thing?
Right?! That would have put Skye in an extremely vulnerable position. It’s WAY over the line to grab for a dog’s leash.
Skye is making slow and steady progress and it’s going to take a long time.
Skye, one of my dogs, is *extremely* fearful of people. There are only three of us who can touch her.
At the park, someone tried to GRAB SKYE’S LEASH to force Skye to interact with them. Thankfully they missed.
That’s how you terrify a dog and get bitten. And it’s always the dog’s fault.
FFS.
Oh my goodness he’s adorable. I hope he finds a great spot with an owner with giant breed experience.
CBS plasma donation waiting area…
People talking: I wonder what kidney paired donation is?
Me: Hi strangers! Lemme tell you…
Cars on the street were broken into last time, so I’m checking our doorbell footage and hiiiiiiiiii.
