Medicare for All would save $450B a year.

Every dollar spent on food stamps generates $1.50-$1.80 in economic activity.

Each dollar going to low-wage workers adds $1.20 to the economy overall.

It’s not about what this country can or can’t afford.

It’s about priorities.
The filibuster has needed to go for some time. In a body that already over-represents low population states, the filibuster adds insult to injury, allowing a minority to hold government hostage.

In this *particular* instance, it is preventing a catastrophe. But that's not a great reason to keep it.
I think 6/5 tables are typically single deck vs multi-deck shoes.
When the smoke clears, as it eventually will, I hope the rest of the world insists that the US largely disarm our military. Our military, in addition to committing war crimes, is bankrupting our country.

I can’t stress this enough: you cannot understand politics without reading this paragraph about why there’s no such thing as a 1/3rd pound hamburger

More big news: the Senate just passed my bipartisan resolution to end Trump's global tariffs. This is a huge win and shows how unpopular Trump's tariffs really are. Now it's time for Mike Johnson to abandon his 6 week vacation and get this passed in the House.
This seems like a bad thing to me.
Thinking about the demand-supply dynamic of our (so-called) healthcare system.

If millions lose health insurance, will that spawn layoffs at healthcare providers? In other words, if there are millions fewer consumers of healthcare, will that decreased demand necessitate pruning supply?

Chinook salmon have returned to the Klamath River in Oregon after being absent for more than a century. The announcement came roughly a year after the last of four major hydroelectric dams on the river was demolished.
A River Restoration in Oregon Gets Fast Results: The Salmon Swam Right Back
The fish had been missing from the headwaters of the Klamath River for more than a century. Just a year after the removal of a final dam, they’ve returned.

1️⃣ Calling This Court “Supreme” Is Obeying in Advance

When will legal and media elites stop passing off tyranny in robes as the rule of law?

Why “Supreme Court Poised to Weaken Voting Rights Act,” when it should be “Republican Justices Appear Poised to Entrench Republican House Control"?

Walz: "We have a federal system that we're all in it together, we help other states when they need it, but we have a situation where they're trying to divide us & provide specific aid to states that they like at the moment, which is absolutely unconscionable... either that or give us our money back"

Please, can Oregon become the eleventh Canadian province?
Good thing I like caramel corn. 👍
Well, Project 2025 wouldn’t exist as a blueprint. That would’ve slowed Trump down a lot. Ironic.
You say that like it's a bad thing. Thoughts and prayers.
