THE TEA SYNDICATE is perfect for readers who enjoyed A MAGIC STEEPED IN POISON & AMONG THIEVES

A spy, witch, thief, & assassin come together to steal a rare Panacea tea plant to break their friend's Sleeping curse. Ft: Cherokee mythology, RPG magic, a sapphic love triangle, & loads of tea 🫖
Aesthetic board for the #teaheist, from top left to right: black silhouette of a person with pigtails holding up the peace sign with their fingers. A picture of three black blades lying flat on a surface.
A picture of a blue neon sign that reads, "Never Sleep." A picture of a pink neon sign that reads,
"Girls. Girls. Girls." A silhouette of a person with long hair with horns coming from their head. A picture of a rose on fire. A picture of pink heart shaped shades. A picture of a purple neon sign that reads, "What the fuck." A silhouette of a person with long hair holding up shades.

The really frustrating thing about my publisher is that I don't think this is a classic case of publishing not being as profitable as people think. It isn't, but I can count up the profits I know they made, subtract the few expenses they did have, and there still should've been lots left!

It has come to our *attention that some authors at Midnight Meadow Publishing (MMP) are asking for a return of their rights to their books from the publisher. This is due to a number of reasons, one of which includes a lack of royalty payments for published books.

Well, this isn't how I wanted to say this. I wanted to announce that I had ended my relationship with my publisher amicably, had my rights back, and would be re-releasing my books soon.

Instead I have to say that I have not received my rights back yet nor been paid.

Midnight Meadow Publishing has a submission window coming up this October...but if you're thinking of submitting, you should know that MM authors are reporting a variety of problems, including delayed royalty reports & payments, & MM is offering rights reversions

Small presses can be wonderful or a nightmare, and unfortunately you have to vet them yourself. There's no list out there, like there is for agents, of legit ones.

So here are a couple red flags that should make you run away from a small press—yes, even if you've been waiting so long for an offer:
