We are an autistic owned indie publisher of LGBTQ+ stories. We are small. Like a boutique without being elitist.

Due to unforeseen personal circumstances, Midnight Meadow Submissions will remain closed until further notice.

We will not open for our October window, and likely will also be closed in April 2026 as well.

We are sorry for any inconvenience, and thank you for your patience!

ISO them queers who want to support a small queer indie press and get a shirt that features flowers that the queer community historically used to identify one another.

I’m not attending Worldcon this year & everything seems to be a mess but this is so mind-bendingly bad on so many levels that I think it’s worth unpacking while I’m in the no-space of airports
Screenshot of Worldcon 2025 panel description reads as follows:

Strong Woman Lead # LGBTQIA+
Culture/DEl
Room 420-422, 9-10 a.m.
Have you ever walked into a bookshop and asked for books with strong women leads?
Perhaps you've requested that love not be a major plot point? Has the staff excitedly passed you half a dozen books that, though good, have a bit of a repeating theme? Here we ask the question: Why do authors/bookshops assume the only way to have a strong woman lead is to make them gay with a woman love interest and prevent men characters from rising over the background? Isn't it possible to have a book with strong women and men characters in it and not have them fall in love?

Hi! It was so lovely meeting you 🥰 for some reason we never get our Bluesky notifications.

I hope you love the books!

(We will be leaving up our posts because this event WAS good, and the runners should have some shame to look back on that they so quickly made themselves not the allies they claimed to be).
You may have seen from recent posts that Midnight Meadow attended Pack in the Readers in Greenbay, WI this weekend. No one in our staff had seen previous posts from them that would have raised red flags for us and ultimately led us to backing out. Everything we had seen from them had given us a very different view of who was running this event.

While at the event, the issues with the runner from Booked In Chaos began circulating, and we then saw screenshots of those posts. After careful consideration, we decided to tread lightly with the event, especially as the event was practically over before those began circulating in our feeds.

The event itself was inclusive, fun, and felt as if so much love and care had gone into it, that we had every intention of returning should they host the event again.

As Pack in the Readers have now released a statement of “neutrality” in this political climate, standing with the runner of Booked in Chaos, and cementing themselves as unsafe to our family, our authors. our friends, and our colleagues, that is no longer the case.

Midnight Meadow is a queer and Black-owned business. We care deeply for diversity, equity, and inclusion, and we do not tolerate hatred or bigotry. We aim to only align ourselves with those who share our values.

In short, ACAB, Land Back, Free Palestine, and FDT.

It’s true that I skipped our monthly holiday sale for May. And that’s because I felt my idea of a “Mommy Issues” sale might have gone a little too far.

And there’s no joking about Memorial Day.
