A lot of progressives talk about the need for a church that satisfies people’s needs for connection to the spiritual and community, but purports liberal theology. But that exists, it’s called episcopalianism and it’s the fastest collapsing religion in the country lol

Dad's wife is an Episcopal Priest and it's been a trip seeing the greying of the congregations in different places and there being a kind of 'oh shit, what do we do then' thing about it with trying to be more family oriented, but also renting out the church for community services like treatment

It’s really beautiful in America that you can go to a theme park themed all around Dolly Parton and order a $230 apple pie that weighs 25 pounds and against all odds is actually pretty good

I grew up going to cedar point every summer and I loved it but as a park it’s more about pushing the limits of your limbic system and eating overcooked chicken tenders than it is about cool themed experiences

I’m not sure if I buy it but there’s some reasons to believe that the ratio of people studying law to those studying engineering in developing countries is a good indicator of future growth in developing countries.

I think if white collar employment goes more from human creation to signing off AI outputs as being compliant with regulations, I think that would create a massive incentive from the middle class for more onerous regulations to protect and enrich white collar workers
