The other reference that many take to refer an Antichrist is the "man of sin" or "man of lawlessness" referred to by Paul in 2 Thess. 2:3-10. The Church in Thessaly at the time had embraced apocalypticism, and were said to have begun acting as if they were in the coming eschaton.

The identification of Daniel's "abomination of desolation" with an anti-Messiah figure is a later Christian gloss on Daniel's prophecy, and not one that is embraced by Daniel's co-religionists (we'll get to Jewish eschatology in a minute).

The only other quasi-references to Antichrist in the Bible come from the vision of Daniel and a Pauline Epistle. In Daniel's vision, which speaks of eschatology, he is said to have equated some future figure with Antiochus IV Epiphanes, who instituted pagan sacrifices for Jewish ones in the Temple.

The orthodox Christian interpretation of the Book of Revelation is called "preterism," in that it refers, in coded language, to events occurring in the first two centuries of the Common Era, and the "beast from the sea" is commonly though of as the Roman Emperor Nero, who persecuted Christians.
