"Do you recognize that sandwich?" is an all-timer cross-examination question.
I love the smell of onions and mustard in the morning.
Border Patrol agent Lairmore testifies that he was not injured by the sandwich, but he felt the impact through his ballistic vest.

The sandwich came apart and "kind of exploded" on his chest upon impact, he says.

"I could smell the onions and mustard."
Time to cancel any Conde Nast subscription one has and tell them why.
thank you for all the support; the statement from our union is now live here with some more reporting.

now that this is public I can confirm that the majority of today’s layoffs were women of color. there are no longer any Black women working at Teen Vogue.
You know, I watched these clips, and suddenly, I have a whole other level of understanding of those who drug the collaborators out into the streets for public humiliation when Vichy France fell.
NEW: Footage of a US citizen in Chicago being rammed then dragged from her car on her way to work.

Abducted, with no warrant, her family couldn’t find her for hours.

She was later released with NO CHARGE.

A DHS statement said she “violently resisted arrest, injuring two officers”.

This! Whenever I hear anyone disparage, I'm quick to say that the way American life is structured means that many have two jobs/side hustles to make ends meet on top of trying to find the energy to be engaged. We each give where we can. It might be me who is burned out next week for all I know.
I try to avoid "real organizers vs. fake/keyboard organizers" framings for the most part but one thing you learn quickly from organizing is how difficult it is to get people to do anything at all, how much you're competing against sociologically. people are overworked and tired
I got a new bird book and sweater wrap today, and saw this sunrise and flower. A good fall day.

For a time, the NYPL had a citizen archivist project to transcribe its wide menu collection. I volunteered because it was fascinating - some of my favorite transcribing that I have ever done.

In 1975, after decades of illegally surveilling & sabotaging left-wing movements in the US (and assassinating people abroad) the Senate painstaking wrote out the government's playbook for destroying movements.

In January, the first commercial and streamlined version of this report hits bookstores.
The Church Committee Report
After fifty years, this shocking report—released in a single, readable volume for the first time—is still the most accurate account of US government spying on its own citizens., The Church...

Lindsey Halligan says I’m not a journalist.

But if you think I am, and you value our our non-profit legal news and analysis, you can support our work here: givebutter.com/journalism/a...

We all agree that Halligan was enjoying one too many Saturday brunch mimosas in DC when she fixated on those tweets and decided to hop onto Signal, right?
I see I am once again going to have to revise my chapter on the feelings that Americans have historically had when a President interferes with the structure of the White House. I got a taste of it when he messed with the Rose Garden. That is nothing compared to this.
I always justify cool book-related clothes as being necessary purchases as those are clothing (if you need some enablement 🤣).
I tell myself that I will do things like only buy $100 worth of books at festivals. Alas, it has yet to work out for me, so this is 100% understandable!
God, same in Tennessee. You may think that it is cognitively impossible for some individuals to hold the positions that they do. I assure you, it is not. The electorate, uh, finds a way.
