My gosh. After the US bombed multiple boats in the middle of the ocean, murdering people on grounds that they were allegedly "carrying drugs," the US Attorney General says "Just like we did with cartels, we're going to take the same approach, President Trump, with Antifa."

also if y'all want fact-checking, reporting and left media y'all need to pay for it, im so sorry to say. the reason we are losing is because every billionaire fucks with fox news & rarely do they ever invest in left-wing pubs.

A 9-year-old pepper sprayed in handcuffs, crying for her dad. A teenager wrestled to the ground, and another pepper sprayed while waiting for the bus.

All were Black girls hurt by police.

This was twenty-three months ago. Israeli forces have killed more than 16,365 kids since.

November 7, 2023 — Kids in Gaza host a press conference, in English, to beg the world for life.

“We come now to shout and invite you to protect us; we want to live, we want peace…we want to live as the other children live.”

At the time, Israel forces had killed over 4,200 kids like these.

our values haven't changed. we still focus on marginalized communities, on young people and their priorities, on covering what mainstream media won't, even under hostile circumstances. people say that's what they want — so read us!

This South Side Weekly report on the Chicago building raid is well worth reading. Most striking to me are the indications of collusion between federal authorities and the building owner and management to effect a mass eviction at the blighted property. southsideweekly.com/federal-agen...

If you're a student or early career journalist or writer in the region, please pitch! Would love to help support your work. There's info in the pitch guide & pitching via the form is the best way to go. (If you let me know you've pitched, I can flag it to the team. Happy to brainstorm ideas, too!)

Over 45 days, then-21 year old Alaqad moved from one temporary shelter to another, unable to process the horrors she documented on her phone.

“Every time I read [my diaries], I just feel disbelief, like, is this real? Did I really live that? Are there still thousands of people in Gaza living that?”

i keep repromoting this because Plestia really struggled to get her book published in the US, and it feels like this site is both really interested in talking about Palestine and also not really interested in reading Palestinian perspectives on their own experience

23-year-old journalist Plestia Alaqad, like many Gazans, lost her home in the first days after October 7. unable to reenter her homeland, stuck watching the horror continue, she’s publishing her diaries from reporting on the ground.

full interview @teenvogue.com www.teenvogue.com/story/plesti...
Pic of Plestia Alaqad overlaid with text from interview: Plestia Alaqad: I can't believe that it's almost — [she pauses] no, it's not almost, it's actually two years. Okay, I can't believe that it's been two years of this ongoing genocide. When I was reporting in Gaza for 45 days, these 45 days felt like 45 years. And now it's 200 days feeling like 200 years for the people who are actually still on the ground facing bombing, displacement and starvation, which is being used as a method by Israel. Israel is literally ethnically cleansing people in Gaza, and we're watching a genocide unfold live on TV.

The civilians rely on our direct donations to survive. Please give to Tasneem and to others. ❤️🙏
