they literally talk about how this is "Lavender Marriage 2.0", like it's a fun hack. It's so clearly a "we're paid well as influencers for this" thing and I fucking hate how its couched in so much bullshit faux-inclusivity-for-conservatives language.

yeah, totally get that. My lens on him is always going to be that he clearly doesn't like trans people, trans women especially, so I can't really follow it down any road past "he think me and the people like me are less deserving of humanity"

yeah! that part of it is key, it was a level playing field to a certain degree, and also a fun space to try ideas out. Like, if I wasn't sure about an idea I would tweet it and see how it landed.

hell, if I was unsure of a pitch I would tweet the one liner idea of it. If it landed on Twitter, I would flesh it out. That's how the name for my book happened too. I tweeted a joke about "female fronted dad rock bands", and Margo Price started calling herself a "woman dad rock artist" on stage.

There's a lot to be said about the evils of social media, but when it worked it was genuinely a game changer for marketing and networking. when I started as a writer I knew literally no one, and was only able to break through because I made friends on Twitter.

I signed with my agent because I tweeted the idea for a novel. He saw it, was already aware of my work, and thought it was a good time to get in touch. I used to regularly get pitches accepted because of tweets, and editors would often DM to ask "hey if you're serious about _____ lets talk."
