Hi, I'm Sam. I'm mainly here to reblog cool stuff, but I will also be posting links to some of my book reviews & hype up trans/weird/disabled/mad lit over here!
Please always feel free to send me book recs. I read a lot, but there's always great stuff I just haven't found yet!

We especially need trans girls as protagonists in YA. It's rare enough to get MC trans rep, and what little we have is almost entirely from the masc side of the spectrum.

put trans women in your fiction. don’t be a fucking coward.

One of the best recent YA books with trans girl MC is Old Wounds by Logan-Ashley Kisner. Nominated for a 2025 Lammy Award.

We are $604 from our nonfiction stretch goal! MR in particular is excited about this one!

YOU DID IIIIT! NOW WE HAVE MORE ART!! This means pretty interior illustrations, small divider details, the little flourishes that will allow us to hire more queer artists per issue! Thank you so much.

Our NEXT stretch goal is NONFICTION 👀

Over a hazy purple background, there's the header "stretch goals." Five goals, of $6900, $8300, $9700, $11000, $12000, and $13000 are now illuminated in rainbow with a picture of an open lock next to them. The remaining goals of $14000 (Nonfiction) and $15000 (+1 Reprints!) show a closed lock next to them.

#137 Rise in Glorious Raiment by @gothgreenwitch.bsky.social
It almost seems redundant to say that this - the 20th episode of the Hulderotica series is another exploration of a different style of writing. But Kaya keeps doing it so I'm going to keep commenting on it.
This episode finally gives /1

#141 Their Heart A Hive by @foxenlock.bsky.social
(Numbering updated to correct an error)
This was absolutely wonderful. A genderqueer take on Beauty and the Beast that explores themes of identity, family and history and the different ways they can be interpreted.
Set in a fantasy world based /1

My 23rd physical book was The Familialists by T.T. Madden, fun horror suburbs for lesbians, I think I already blogged about it in another thread, but I really enjoyed the way this story explores the horrors of (white) suburbs and whose labor and bodies are exploited there.

My 20th book from itch (counting the five of them as one story bc they are all quite short) were the Winnie & Crela stories from Dani Finn. Who know necrophagy could be so damn cute? I really like the way their relationship develops, it’s sweet and the characters are just a joy to read about.

As a thank you for smashing SO many stretch goals, if we get to 300 backers @mruthrobinson.bsky.social will play Alien: Isolation on stream while Ash and Val tag along and laugh.

Think of it as our silly final backer goal as a treat—for you, not for MR.

www.kickstarter.com/projects/hyb...
Info for our Backer Goals! 50, 100, 150, 200, AND 250 Backers are unlocked! All backer goals are in rainbow with an open lock over a blurred version of OTHERSIDE banner art in purple, with a blurred floating fantastical head on the right. Now at the bottom there is a FINAL GOAL: 300 backers - MR plays Alien: Isolation. Instead of a lock there is a face hugger from the Alien franchise.

I wrote another body-horror short story. It got mommy issues, dolls, mutilation, isolation and gore. Sounds like fun? Only one way to know for sure~

cis men love making books and tv and films about how the most horrific thing on earth is transfeminine existence even to add it in when it has nothing to do w/ the topic to avoid thinking too hard about what kind of everyday misogyny goes into the continuous pursuit of maintaining their own manhood

If its just about the listening to somebody talk and discuss something aspect, I would have a podcast recommendation. The @galaxymothpress.bsky.social Queer Books podcast focusses on indie/self pub lit and interview with the authors. The episodes are also on youtube, but theres no video afaik.

The only people who get to make decisions about a transmasc's chest is the transmasc who has them.
NOT their partners.
NOT predatory TERFs.
NOT their family.
AND (this one is important! ;3)
NOT other transmascs who call transmascs who like and keep their chests "fetish fuel" on the Internet! 🧡

I've run a trans book blog on tumblr for 1.5 years now and the inciting reason I started it (besides hmmm polls fun) was that I needed better trans books than Frankissstein which I had just picking up from the pride display at my local library and hated with a burning passion.

I'm still reading and the editing isnt always the greatest (at least not in the paperback copy I bought, the online pdf is free) but its fun trans(formation) horror, which is always an intruiging genre to me and I am having fun, which is the most important part.

I know it's some backwards ass Edwardian convention, but the fact that she used Latin terms any time she wants to talk about how horny she is (which is often) is absolutely sending me.

The modernist version of talking about @ss and corn and s3x 🥲

Sensual thoughts now began to creep into my mind more and more. Interest in my studies was declining. In the class-room I was absent-minded, and when called upon, would be confused, and hardly able to reply to the pro- fessor's questions. Even here I would be thinking of the soft satin-smooth cutis in inguine of my late guest which I had found gratissima tactioni, praesertim labiali et lin- guali, and would regret that it was always to be denied to me to touch again on viro this marvellously fine integu- ment. I pined for the repetition of other similar pleas- ures which I had for the first time tasted in their fulness only a few weeks before, such as pillowing caput super abdomene aut femure nudo adolescentis, the fascinating sight membri virilis ejus erecti, and the extremely smooth surface glandis, gratissima tactioni et digitorum et oris.

Love it or hate it, this should be required reading for *any* student of contemporary trans literature or history. What a remarkable book.

Alright I need a short story break before I dive back into another gargantuan anthology, so let's read one of the oldest transfemme books I'm aware of!

Autobiography of an Androgyne is one of the earliest "trans memoirs," published a solid 15 years before the commonly cited 'first' trans memoir.

I should also say that Persona is the first novel I've read since maybe Nevada that made me go, "I didn't know how much I (we) needed this."

52 is Run Like Hell by Eira Brand, a transfem cyberpunk novel that is really a lot of fun if you like fast-paced, action-filled stories and a really intruiging exploration of body horror and gender dysphoria in that genre, which I enjoyed. #samreads

I am also currently reading three more books that will be added to the list once I'm done, so fingers crossed I can maybe get this to 100 by the end of the year. That would be nice ngl.
