And I just heard that Struzan died, that's terrible news. A real loss...

It's fantastic on every level isn't it, a favourite since I first saw it at the cinema back in '82. Perfect.

Agreed, and I'd also say the last 45 minutes are great too!

The Strange Vice of Mrs Wardh. 1971. Sergio Martinos giallo debut and he hits the ground running. Gripping and tightly twisted, stylish and packed with Fenech.

I'll check it out, you can usually rely on a cheeky wee scamp...

I actually didn't know that until earlier today! And thanks for the heads up on the documentary...

I do indeed. My first film buying memories go back to Super 8 and the thrill of screening a one reel silent version of Taste The Blood of Dracula. VHS was a major breakthrough, full length films at your fingertips! They really were thrilling times for film fans.

That's an impressively memorable legacy to leave...😆

That's unusual, studio interference having a negative impact on the film. Said nobody ever...

That's fantastic. And the likeness is uncanny! Just awesome... 👏

And I was the geek who loved the annoying video store guy with the odd recommendations! 🤓

It was a packed cinema when I saw it, but we were starved of entertainment where I grew up 😄 and I remember renting the VHS from Blockbuster a few times before buying it myself.

It's simply fantastic isn't it. I'll never forget seeing it at the cinema back in '82, jaw droppingly good! I have to say I didn't enjoy the more recent prequel, I seem to recall cardboard characters and dodgy CGI but perhaps I should give it a second chance...

If they hadn't done it, global warming would've released it anyway! 😁

I didn't know that, but I did always know Drew Struzan is a legend!

I think the thing that impresses me most is the mastery over so many genres in a short period of time. Precint 13, Big Trouble, The Thing, Starman to name an impressively diverse few. And for me, big budgets often seem to cloud imagination.

Thanks for the link, I'll check it out when I get home... 👍

That's one hell of a run (obviusly not including his TV films) every film is fantastic. There are those that would add Christine, but that's a different conversation! 😄

It's remarkable isn't it. I can't really compare this to the '51 film, both are completely different beasts and both are perfect examples of genre film for their time. Great to see this finally getting the recognition it deserves!

I never understood the negativity and terrible critical reception this received, I saw it on release in '82 and the audience went crazy. For me it's a peerless sci-fi shock masterpiece. And I'm with you, that desert island better have electricity...
